Denman's Extra-Large Textured Handle "Original" Brush In A Sealed Denman Biodegradable Bag. Genuine!
I've been buying Denman brushes for nearly 30 years and can vouch for their brand kudos and longevity.I have a leopard print D3 at home I've had for about five years, the previous one about fifteen! But staying with my shielding mum (and her awful Poundland brush!) was making hair brushing a real chore. I decided to go with what I know, and thought I'd go for Denman's biggest "original" brush - the D5.Amazon reviewers made me slightly nervous about purchasing, as a few allege they received fakes. There *are* US clones, such as the Comair brand (seen in some pictures from reviewers of the D3), and Head Jog No 51 (which looks identical, but all the web pictures I've seen of the Head Jog brush show uneven pins!).Ensure you buy from Amazon UK themselves - third-party sellers can be a lottery.Interesting to note, the D5 brush (Denman's heavyweight, extra-large "original" brush), is for sale to Trade Customers Only on the Denman UK and US sites. The D5 has a textured handle (some other "original" brush sizes appear not to? I may be wrong, though).Mine was received in a sealed, Denman-branded biodegradable bag (also seen in pictures from Amazon reviewers of the D3 brush). I was a bit concerned about this, but Denman assured me on Twitter a few days ago: "Amazon require us to bag our brushes so switching our packaging to a branded biodegradable bag seemed like the right thing to do! It helps us to reduce waste and eliminate single use plastics from our supply chain!".This brush is excellent for curls or very thick hair* (personally, I have thick hair, now peroxided to hide greys!) so most brushes make it a nightmare to untangle my mane - the D5 makes it a breeze.Even better, this is the best price online or in store for this brush.Buy with confidence! Refer to my pictures if you need to authenticate your Denman D5!*If you have Afro or very coarse hair, the Denman with the wider pins, eg, D31 or D41, may be better for your needs. The "regular" Denmans are a good one-size-fits-all brush, though.Edit October 2021: Denman now have an even bigger option of this brush, called the D38 Power Paddle (a cross between the Denman detangling brush - shaped like a large Tangle Tamer, + D3 pins).Might buy one when it's on offer - £18 is a bit pricey, compared to this D5!

The BEST brush.
I have had this brush for a few months now and can say hands down, this is the best hairbrush I have ever had. No more struggling to get a brush through my thick, curly hair! I have broken many handles off brushes/bristles stuck in my hair just trying to get the brush through my hair, and this brush detangles my hair with ease. I have recommended it to everyone I know! I sometimes go through a couple of days where I don't brush my hair due to manic depressive episodes and this brush makes it seem like they've never happened!!! Brushes out knots and tangles without feeling a thing. Doesn't break my hair brushing it out either. I will ALWAYS stick with this hairbrush. LOVE it, I think every hairdresser should have one.

Excellent for thick hair
I have been a fan of Denman brushes for a very long time, my hair is very thick and long, Denman brushes have always been the only ones that could penetrate the haystack! This brush is large, very sturdy and solid and is a good weight in the hand. All of which helps to give your hair and scalp a good workout, rare when you've got thick hair. I don't know but suspect it might be a bit too weighty and hefty for someone with thinner hair - it could potentially be a bit harsh for a more delicate scalp but if you're desperately looking for something that will actually go through your hair, this is the one for you. I will be buying it again and have been very glad to find it.

Denman brushes are the best
This is only my 3rd big Denman brush that I have had since my mid twenties. The other 2 lasted between them 30 years so I can really vouch for them. I use the brush every day and finally my last one which I had bought in 2005 finally died on me when the rubber perished. I hope this one lasts just as long I am sure it will.Delivery only took 4 days from UK to France - amazing given what is happening at the moment, and when normal mail takes nearly 2 weeks!

curl definition, slipping bristles
Great brush, main problem is also it's main strenghth as the plastic bristles slip out constantly while brushing but it helps to keep the brush clean as you can dismantle it and remove all the hair attached.Give good curl definition but the slipping just gets on my nerves.

From a man with long hair
I am a 6' 2" man with long hair (down to the middle of back.) Having tried cheaper non-branded brushes over the years I will only now buy Denman ones.Yes, they cost quite a bit more compared to the cheap supermarket equivalents but there is a good reason for that. This brush is very sturdy and well made. It glides through my tangled hair with relative ease and minimal pulling. The bristles are initially rather sharp but quickly dull so it doesn't scratch after about a week of use.One star knocked off because of the handle redesign. It's now rather lightweight for me compare to the old design of this brush, and is completely flat rather than curved, which makes it a little uncomfortable to use. Fortunately, the rubber insert is removable, so I was able to swap the new handle for the old one.
