My daughter loves it
My daughter is 12. She is already a very good piano player but wanted something else more mobile to play. I bought this because of the price and the fact that it had all she would need just to get started and if she wanted it to look better/nicer she could 'pimp' it herself. I have to say that she does love it. She could play it almost immediately (she gets music, chords etc that she needs from her ipad) and soon had her playing chart hits on it including Katy Perry and Kate Nash. I must agree that it does fall out of tune but she does not find this a problem - she just quickly retunes it, job done! Ukulele's are now becoming very popular and fashionable as a instrument to play in school as they are quite easy to play and are small to carry around and are cheap to buy. If you want to have a look at some fab Ukulele playing then check out the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britian on You Tube playing Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights - brill! This is not too expensive and obviously for the price it is not going to be top of the range but it is a good solid starter outfit and my daughter gets alot of enjoyment out of it.

This is WONDERFUL!!!
And for the price, it's an exceptional piece. It's got a beautiful finish, in a beautiful shade of tan. I bought it for my 2 year old and he mostly uses it at church while the band are playing as he loves to worship too. Since he was bought a leapfrog toy guitar for his 1st birthday, he's loved to 'rock out' to any music playing, or join in if he sees anyone with a guitar, and I figured this would be a good starter instrument for him.Since it's a real ukelele, once it's been tuned a few times, the strings will hold their tune. My hope is that one day Elijah will want to actually learn to play it properly, which he wouldn't be able to do with a toy guitar. I've noticed that toy guitars go for around the same price as this ukelele, and the reviews on those aren't as good. This has excellent reviews, and with good reason. My boy also hasn't noticed that this only has 4 strings, not the 6 a guitar has - and in my opinion, it doesn't matter, because this will probably make it easier to learn when he's a bit older. It's been dropped a few times, but hasn't chipped or anything, it's made really well and people often comment on how nice it is.His friends at church and playgroups love it too, always wanting to have a strum, and since we started taking it with us to church, some other toddlers have been bought toy guitars that look similar, but they don't sound anywhere near as nice as the sounds that emit from this ukelele and they look cheaper and have broken easily. One little boy's guitar has no strings now (not that it bothers the toddlers of course) but Elijah's ukelele is still in the same condition as when we bought it months ago.I am a very happy customer!

Rather nice.
I have three other ukes at the moment, one stupidly loud folky one, a quite expensive kala, and a big baritone. Why then you cry, do you want this shoddy beginners item? Well, it's rather hard to explain. My ukuleles are all lovely, very different etc, But I wanted something really small, and well purposely a bit tinny. Naturally this cheap little uke delivers both, but I am ordering some nice bright Aquila strings and the finish on the body is really quite remarkable for this price! It's very retro, just what I LOVE, it is however a shame the picture hasn't been updated, I really wanted friction tuners (the ones that stick out the back)because they look great, not because they tune better. Infact they are hideous to tune, so I suppose the geared tuners on this are my common sense coming through.I suppose you could criticise the that the headstock has a lack of finisher on the edges, and that the factory strings are made of used clothing, and that the fret boards edges are just a little bit messy. However, it doesn't matter! I am looking to use this uke for all sorts of things, even with it's 'clothes' strings it still sounds sweet and a bit alternativefolkesque (think Noah and the Whale). So if you want a pretty cool, retro looking noah and the whale ukulele, look no further. That is all (I have infact heard that Noah and the Whale actually use a Vintage soprano, so they can't be horrendous)BUT please, buy some strings STRAIGHT AWAY. (:

Surprisingly good for the price!
I am writing this review around 18 months after purchasing this item. This was my first ukulele and is responsible for getting me hooked on ukes. I now have a number of ukuleles of varying quality and cost, this is the cheapest ukulele I own and yet it has become a benchmark. It is of cheap laminate construction but is sturdy and has a great tone. It came with cheap poor quality strings which I replaced with Aquila strings. This transformed the ukulele which now sounds amazing considering how cheap it was and the materials it is made from. Although the fretboard is made of cheap plywood which is not the most attractive of materials the frets themselves are perfectly placed and intonation is superb. The open-geared tuners hold the tuning perfectly for months on end (once the strings have been sufficiently stretched and have settled down) and are smooth and accurate. In summary, a cheap and cheerful little ukulele that does the job and surprisingly good for the price.

Buon acquisto ma...
Si scorda con una facilità imbarazzante, in particolare una chiave non regge assolutamente l'accordatura. Acquistato come regalo.
