The test for any swirl remover is this: if you can feel a "crater" with your finger nail, no swirl remover will remove it. Swirl remover only helps to remove light swirls and marks in paintwork. Stone chips are best hidden with touch-up paint applied into the chip "crater" using the tip of a metal tool normally supplied with the paint or a nail if not.

Start with this with a dual action polisher or hand buff. It is the least aggressive you can start with. If the scratches are very deep a ) professional advice b) use a more aggressive polish and pads

If you are asking the difference between swirl remover and ultimate compound, the latter is for deeper swirls etc so presumably it is more abrasive.
