Kentrol Backside License Plate Mount with LED's 80703

Installed this on my 2013 JKU. I researched several different brands/styles of these for a few days. There were several that I liked but they were either $100 plus or they were missing either the tail light, license plate light or both. This had it all and for a great price. After reading the reviews the first time I was very hesitant to purchase this brand as many stated or posted pictures showing a blue/purple license plate light that was just way to bright. For the price I decided to go with this and replace the LED strip if needed. That was not necessary as the issue with the blue/purple light seems to be fixed. See the image attached, nice white LED license plate light and not extremely bright. Pic was taken in the morning but it is just right at night.***Save yourself a ton of time and uneeded steps. Do not follow the directions included! Search "Jeep Wrangler Kentrol License Plate Install". The YouTube video from CJ Offroad dated Nov 28, 2017. This video does not have you remove the tail light nor the entire back panel. It accesses the wiring from the interior of the Jeep and is so much easier and cleaner!***The install took me about 30 minutes total to complete. Very easy to do. I also had previously mounted an Esky EC170-08 back up camera on the spare. For this mount I trimmed the base plate of the backup camera slightly with snips, then marked off the camera mount holes on the license plate mount between the two lights (see picture). Drilled the holes out and installed with 2 screws and nuts. Very clean look and I can see out of my back window now! I'd also suggest that you bungee the backseat headrests down and flip the rear view mirror as it opens the view up so much more. Buy with confidence!

I haven’t even had this delete plate for a year yet and the brake light bar is completely rusted (I added a pic for reference). The white light to illuminate the license plate has never worked since installation and used to pop out until my husband super glued it in. I would have sent it back but the installation was a pain and I wouldn’t have had anywhere to put my license plate as I had already removed the original mount. A lot of money for a shoddy product. I wish I could give 5 stars because this was by far my favorite delete plate I found in all my searching but it was clearly manufactured cheaply or a defect.UPDATE- I have been in contact with Kentrol and they are sending out 2 replacement lights for my license plate mount. I wish I had known to contact them first before spending 35 minutes on the phone with amazon last week trying to figure out a way to fix this. If you run into any issues with your license plate mount be sure to contact Kentrol directly. Very happy that they were able to fix this because as I stated before, after lots of research, this was my favorite license plate mount I found and I was not looking forward to buying and installing a new one. 5 stars!

Not bad, the lights were extremely dim at first. The connections to the wire butts were tight, so I July felt along the wiring and it lit up! That is not too comforting, but it is working for now. The lights are extremely bright. My wrangler has about 3.5” on 35’s so the plate light is in direct line of sight for other cars... gotta find a solution for this. Other than that, I have no complaints. The wiring is thin, and there were issues out of the box. I will update if there are any problems.Update: I had to install window tint film to the license plate light. It is WAY too bright for other vehicles. I bought the blue tint vs the black and layered multiple strips to achieved the desired brightness. After this modification I have no other complaints, aside from the wiring quality. Only time will tell if the wiring is up to par.

Not a lot to say other than its great, everything works as it should, bolted up perfectly, came with everything that is needed, and works great. The brake light is good and bright and WOW so is the license plate light. Some say that it is to bright, but I think it is perfect. The crazy bright license plate light doubles as a trouble/work light in the night, swing the tailgate open and work on a table or the ground near it and it sure beats a flashlight or headlamp. I would definitely but it again.

Installed this on my 2015 Jeep Rubicon today. All in all I am very pleased with the clean look that it provided, just what I was looking for. The only thing is that it is very bright, and the led lighting almost looks purple. Not horrible, but I wish there was a way to tone it down a little. The Installation instructions were a little vague, so I went on youtube and watched one of many videos for the installation. There is a little basic wiring that is required, but very easy if you watch the video. Be prepared to take off a few things to reach the factory wiring harnesses that you will need. Once again, very easy and straightforward. Very clean install, no exposed wiring to deal with. You will need to purchase a license plate delete plug that covers the cut out where the old license plate was located. This is a very inexpensive part that I purchased here on Amazon for under $15 and it pops right in the existing cut out in the body panel. This kit does include the hole plugs that will be exposed when you take out the rubber bushings for the spare tire carrier, I recommend getting a small tube of silicone and running a very small bead on the backs of the plugs to keep them in place. They seemed a little loose and felt like they could fall out after a short time. Just wipe away the excess. Very happy so far. Good luck!

Buyer beware, I should of checked the leds with a 9v battery before installing everything. Nothing like buying something to find out the led doesn't even work. However the red brake light led does work, but the liscense plate led doesn't. You'd think they would check for stuff like this before shipping the item. Oh well, it's installed and not coming off anytime soon. Maybe they can send me a working led light...
