Got potential but needs some work...
Off the bat I was skeptical this would be any good, but I have to say that this little device has potential. It is small and light and it's powered with a mini-usb on the display side and OBD-II connector on the car port side. I installed this on a first gen Tacoma built up as an overland rig, so having the pitch and roll was my primary focus but liked the fact that it had diagnostic features. This is where some of the issues start... For example the transmission temp of the Taco is somewhat hidden with register that you need to apply some simple math to. With a standard OBD-II dongle and Torque installed on a tablet for example this can easily be added as a function, here on this device there is no provision for hidden registers. It does pick up all other essential parameters (RPM, engine temp, engine load, etc.) but wished you could custom add others via the USB port and a phone app. The other annoyance was the alarm beep that went off after a few minutes. I checked all the parameters to determine what caused the alarm and could not tell, since all the running values were well within normal operating limits - Ultimately I ended up turning off the alarm sound to get around this. The menu navigation is also something that takes a few minutes to get used to. The little rocker at the top acts as a scroll function, enter function and return function by using different methods like short and long pressing. Also on different screens this takes on different roles. So, if you need an inclenometer that also doubles as part OBD-II read out and error code reader with basic functions, this thing isn't bad, but for the price you may be better off getting a cheaper pitch/roll indicator and use a separate method of getting OBD-II data where you can use apps like Torque to customize what you need to see. I will update this review after a few weeks of driving to give feedback on longevity and reliability.
