Excellent!
I learned to sew in junior high, but I haven't touched a sewing machine in over 30 years, so I needed a good primer on the subject. This is perfect and it includes a great illustrations.

Better then the Dummies version!
Overall I liked the book. It covered all of the basics at least very briefly. It covers which feet and needles to use in very good detail. A lot of space was spent on advanced machines like sergers, and embroidery machines, that could have been use to enhance detail on basic sewing machine operation and skills. None of the images were actual photos which left the knowledge a little generic. The most informative explanations were of what needles to use and which feet do what. I wish there had been more details on sewing machine parts and components and less detail on advanced machines.

A must have to learn how to use a sewing machine and trouble shooting in clear easy steps
I bought this book after it being highly rated on the Sewing Quarter tv channel, as a go to book to learn everything you need to know about using a sewing machine.I originally bought it as a gift for my daughter who struggles with her sew machine to give her more confidence as it's a very pictorial book showing step by step what you need to do, and most importantly how to trouble shoot if your machine decides to throw a wobbly.I have been sewing all my life, and I was so impressed by this book as it covered different styles of sewing machines and I also think it covers interlockers too.(I've already given away this book so I can't double check but I'm 98% sure it does) I'm planning on buying this book for myself too, as I'm not brilliant at automatically knowing why my machine has glitches occasionally. Instead of automatically taking my machine to the repair guy, which cost a fortune, I can check through all the basics and more to see if it's something I can sought myself!!!

This is a lovely little book for anyone starting to use a sewing machine. The diagrams are crystal clear and the text written in plain English, just the thing for a beginner, no unnecessary jargon. I did initially buy this book for my granddaughter but on reading it myself decided to keep it as although I've been sewing for many years I found lots of helpful hints and tips.

I haven't finished reading this yet but it has been really great in giving instructions on how to actually use your sewing machine, as well as set it up. As a complete beginner I didn't know how to make the ends of the thread secure or anything. This tells you the stuff the instruction manuals don't.
