teeny tiny
The photo of the latch over a hand is photo-shopped. I don't have especially big hands and it does NOT cover my three fingers! It is 5 cm, which is 2 inches. The only kind of lock you can fit in this latch is one of those teeny tiny diary sized locks

Bad screws
This product really worked for my needs however one of the screws was not built to spec. The threads were messed up, there was extra material in the head so my bit could not insert into it in order to screw it in and the screw was dull on the end instead of pointed. I would suggest inspecting the screws more thoroughly or at least providing a couple extra screws just in case.
