The unit works great but...
For those who are buying this electric drive motor for the Sentro knitting machine, be forewarned that you MUST take the knitting machine apart to get the knob handle out. This unit is NOT like the Addi design. Watch videos of how to take this machine apart and put it back together to install the electric turner correctly.I am experienced with Addi's, and this Sentro knitting unit caught me off guard, as I had to take the knitting machine apart to install the electric drive motor.Do not try to force the handle out by pulling or prying the handle. You will damage the knitter if you do. The cogwheel that turns the knitting needle trays is a solid and connected piece on the handle. It is not a "Pull out" design. You must remove all the screws from the bottom of the knitter first, then turn the knitter back upright, and then remove the center screws that hold the needle trays in place. You will see them looking straight down into the knitting machine's center when it is upright.Once you do that, carefully lift the knitting needle trays TOGETHER. Set them on a flat surface so they don't separate, and drop all the needles out. Then you will see the handle; inside, you must remove the 2 screws and plastic piece that holds the handle down.Lift that plastic piece that holds the handle in place, and then you can remove the handle from the knitting machine. To put the motor drive cog in (A black wheel with VVV spikes), you have a small hex nut that fits into that cog wheel.Put that hex nut inside the cog wheel, and then place the cog wheel into the slot. The hex nut must be facing the center of the knitting machine, where the other cogwheel was on the handle you just took out. Then, the motor drive unit arm is placed in the hole to go through and connect to the cogwheel.Take the large, flat knob off the motor (White with AIDILER stamped on it. It just pulls off straight. You may have to walk it side to side a little). There is a hole inside of that knob arm for the long screw bolt that came with the motor to screw into the cog wheel and tighten down. You may have to put your fingertip on the cog wheel to keep the hex nut in the wheel while getting the bolt started. That screw bolt will screw into that little hex nut you just put into the cog wheel to hold it in place as the motor runs.Put the Aidiler flat knob back on the motor arm once you have finished screwing the bolt to the cog wheel. Now, put the little plastic piece back over the cogwheel arm with the 2 little screws.Carefully pick up your needle trays, keeping them together, and gently set them into the knitter, paying attention to clear the little lock arm sticking out on the side. The trays will sit under that little lock piece. The Black knitting needle is number 1, sitting precisely in front of the yarn guide to line up correctly. If any of the needles feel out of place or stuck, just use something to wiggle them into the right spot to sit freely in their slot.Put the needle tray cover back over the needle trays and then put the screws in the middle, looking down into the center.Once those trays and cover screws are in place, then turn the knitting machine over to put the screws back into the bottom holes.Turn the knob on the motor SLOWLY, without being plugged in, to make sure all the needles are sitting freely in their slots. Each needle needs to go up and down without force.Do not force them to push through if they get stuck. They must be lined up correctly, or if too much force is used, it can break a needle. The needles have to sit loose in their slot.Just use a screwdriver or one of the sewing needles to wiggle the knitting needle loose in the slot.Again, look for YouTube videos on how to do this and watch them a few times until you know it.If done correctly, it will save you a world of upset and damage. The videos are vital. The printed instructions for this installation are a FAILURE from step 2 to step 3 on the instruction sheet. They do NOT tell you you MUST take the knitter apart to install the motor drive.Once I installed the electric motor and rebuilt the entire knitter, everything worked wonderfully. So, to the company or seller, change your instruction sheet to include this vital information and post videos of how to do this.Thanks.I bought this unit for the 40-count needle set, but I have both sizes of the Addi King and the small Addi, so I am familiar with these knitters.I, too, was caught off guard by the difference between this Sentro and the Addi brand.Outside of that, this machine works very well, and I am impressed that it is so much less expensive than the Addi but works just as well. You will not be disappointed with this version.I am delighted with my purchase.Happy knitting!Update: 1/24/24I am upgrading my review to 5 starsI just now finished running this Sentro knitter with the Aidiler electric drive unit on it, and I am happy with the knitting results of the knitter and the additional tension clip.I already use the Addi King and the Addi (small), so I got this Sentro 40 needle for making children's hat sizes since the Large and Small Addi do the adult and infant sizes. The final results of this Sentro are 5 stars...The knitting was very smooth, with no dropped stitches or tensioning problems, even with the high static cling I have in my house right now.The white knitting that I have next to the sample yarns in the knitter the white was from my Addi King a few years ago, but I am comparing the stitch patterns here of the Sentro to the Addi, and the Sentro is spot on, correct.I highly recommend getting the Aidiler Electric motor for the Sentro and running it at a lower/slower, constant speed. You can focus on pulling the yarn and have no dropped stitches with the tension clip holding the tension on your yarn.I am happy with this Sentro Knitter and electric drive unit.Sentro is an exceptional knitter set up to make quality knitting.I am pleased with this unit.

i haven't used it yet because my machine is attached to a folding table...I've taken the lags off so it sits flat to the table and the attachment doesn't work on it that way...I have plans on buying another machine for it...

Cheap and unreliable
I purchased 4 of these. 1 failed in two weeks. Another is so weak that it's hardly functional. Even when working properly, they are loud. Loud. They're cheap, underpowered, prone to overheating, and weak.

I worry about longevity
I love this machine there are a few flaws. I can see that this is going to break down my gears faster and I don’t think all of the gears are replaceable. The crank and circular knob both fall off. The white circular one that came with it, broke. :( Also, it will just stop which is a good thing because you don’t want it to keep going and break your machine but also that kind of concerns me that it’s going to burn the motor out. I’m not sure how that’s gonna work out only time it will tell.Issues aside This is probably one of my favorite upgrades. I can make a full size hat in 20 minutes. So far I’ve made about 20 hats with this. I haven’t ran into any real issues yet but I’ll update this if I need to.

Thanks Kaytedid86, TikTok made me do it. Seller seems to have made improvements from first batch.
I purchased this adapter for about $40 in Nov ‘22 after seeing it on TikTok from the lovely Kaytedid86. I was a little late to the party and the product was sold out. However, I finally did snag one a little while later when it came back in stock. With that said, I did not receive a first round batch of these. From the looks of the rest of the reviews and a note included from the manufacturer in the box, they have made many improvements and are striving to continue to do so by encouraging customers to contact the company with thoughts on the product (good and bad).***Included in box is the adapter, power supply, two extra screws, a little blue prying tool for the original crank handle, and two NICE magnetic screwdrivers****The screwdrivers I’ve received with my order are actually really nice which leads me to believe that the manufacturer is listening to reviews. It is not the single flimsy blue screwdriver pictured and I had no worry of stripping the screw inside using the larger of the two screwdrivers to remove and reinstall the screw inside the handle. Magnetic was a pleasant surprise. Install was quick and easy and there are even plenty of installation videos online provided by the company as well as customers. So far I have knit 350 rows with this attachment. It is definitely not the strongest of motors and has a bit of a learning curve to it. The adapter has an easier time going on higher speeds than it does the slower speeds. It can be a little tricky to get used to since the adapter is a bit quirky with speeds but once you get used to where the sweet spot is, you’ll be fine. In the note inside the box it states that most of the time people are over tightening the screw and that can cause this motor to run laboriously, especially at lower speeds. I am due to clean/lubricate my Sentro and believe that will improve the adapter’s performance. Still works great either way. This adapter is a bit noisy but for those that are used to using an over the crank drill/electric screwdriver attachment, it’s not anything new. Definitely not so loud that I can’t watch tv or listen to music while it is in use.Another major concern was overheating. So far, I haven’t had any issue but do give it plenty of resting time and typically I won’t operate at the highest possible speed. Manufacturer recommends letting it rest for 15 minutes every 200 rows. With my use, doing about 40 rows and turning it off a minute or two to do color changes and take a sip of coffee, it barely even got warm. I do unplug the device for the 15 minute resting period to ensure the electricity coming in doesn’t add any unnecessary heat and speeds up the cooling off process. If you do decide to get this product or don’t and just have a knitting machine, absolutely get some type of plastic safe lubricant and regularly do maintenance/cleaning on your machine to ensure the plastics don’t get worn down or break. This will keep your machine running smoothly, preventing grinding and will assist this little adapter in doing its job. I use Super Lube silicone O-ring lubricant (about $9 on Amazon at the time of this review but will last a long time) recommended by AltKnots in her Sentro maintenance video on YouTube but anything plastic safe should work. If it is not plastic safe, it will slowly over time erode the inside of the machine.I will be using this product a lot in the foreseeable future and will update this review as needed.TLDR;If you can operate a screwdriver and take care of your belongings, just get it

Will no longer work with new Sentro construction.
Unfortunately this product will no longer work the way it says it will.Sentro have now bonded the handle and cog together so that you can't simply pull the handle out of the cog and replace it with the adaptor. You now need to disassemble the entire machine and remove the handle and cog as one part. You then need to replace the cog as the cog and handle will not separate. As you can see in my photos I tried soaking the handle and cog in some nail polish remover for a few minutes to see if that would loosen the bond but it started to erode the plastic and didn't loosen the bond. The solution to this is that Aidiler need to now include a cog in their kit.The bolt holding the handle to the body of the machine has now also changed and the screwdriver included in the Aidiler kit does not work for that job.I'm going to order a new cog from an independent seller who prints them (as I can't find an official seller) and I will need to try and get a new bolt from my local hardware shop as it was so tightly screwed in the head has got worn out screwing it out.All in all it's pretty disappointing.I also paid for express delivery!I think the product has potential but they definitely still have things to sort out before it's a satisfactory product.
