3/8-16 Threaded Inserts, 15 Pieces
Price $14.99Sold by: HELIFOUNERPurchase date: July 2023I don't know how heavy the computer cabinet stand thing is that I used these for. It's like four 4 feet tall by 2 feet long and wide, made of 2x4s and thick plywood with shelves, walls, and a door, so it's heavy, especially with all the stuff inside and on top of the cabinet.I had originally used tee nuts to attach the wheels. The wheels are the kind that are made so the weight is not bearing directly down on the wheel axle, but rather next to the wheel, if you know what I mean. The weight of the cabinet pried the tee nuts loose, pulling them out pretty far, but fortunately they were long ones. I'm glad I noticed this before the cabinet tipped enough for the computer to fall off the top of it. That would have sucked. Then I ordered these threaded inserts and just put them in the same holes the tee nuts were in. That was about six months ago. These things appear to be holding up just fine. I did not experience any stripping of the place you put the hex wrench into or the threads, or any other damage to the inserts while tightening them. It seems like a good product. Sorry I am unable to say how much weight they are supporting.

Product works well but not instructions..
There were no instructions on what size hole to drill. In fact there were no instructions at all.I found that a 9/32 drill bit worked best for drilling a hole in 3/4" plywood prior to screwing in the insert. 1/4 was too small and 5/16 was too large.Make sure the wood insert length works for you.

Drill out the RIGHT size hole and these work great
I bought 5/16” 15mm long threaded inserts and 12mm (wrong size) drill bit as recommended in the product description. 2 days later I received my order and realized a 12mm hole is WAY too big. So then I ordered a 10mm drill bit to match the outside barrel diameter of these threaded inserts, and it worked perfect. I drilled out 10mm holes into 3/4” birch plywood to mount a mailbox onto, and attached with 3/4” long 5/16” button head screws. Final result is perfect! Hex size to install these threaded inserts is 8mm, and I used my impact driver and a hex bit I already owned.

Good quality inserts work great when installed correctly
It takes proper technique to get any inserts in straight. I watched a couple YouTube video's and practiced on a scrap piece. Choosing the correct drill size is straight forward. I started the inserts on my drill press and turning the chuck by hand. Finished with a ratchet driver and they are dead on straight.

These worked perfect
Just what I expected, they worked great. I wish they included a brill bit though, would pay a little extra, 12mm isn't exactly a standard jobber size people keep around.
