Clamp Spring Nut Hayward Pro-Grid Filter Replacement DEX2420J1KIT

The Hayward bolts are impossible to find in stores. Hayward wants you to get a whole new clamp. I found this on Amazon and it came with all the hardware and worked perfectly with the Hayward Swimclear cartridge filter.

If you have the pump with this type of clamp - buy the new clamp. I bought 4-6 of these clamp nuts (I lost count)and worked hard to get the old Hayward clamp to work. I got it to seal once but never again. Eventually, you have to service the pump so even if you get it to seal one time you will have to do it again. I spent hours on this issue and tried every trick I could. The clamp is bad and the nut will eventually strip no matter what you do. You have to apply a certain amount of torque to seal the pump and the nut strips before you reach that point. Hayward realized they had a bad clamp so they put out a new design. The new design is great and uses a different assembly so you don't have to deal with this issue. It costs about $200 for the new clamp assembly and I hated to spend it but that is what you need to do. If you don't believe me and still want to give it a try well then this is the right nut for the old Hayward clamp assembly.I fooled around with the old clamp to the point where I ended up having to drain my pool because the pump was offline too long.I found the new clamp assembly details on Hayward's website in the owner manual. I ordered the new clamp assembly off of Amazon and it is great. Wish I would have done it sooner.

Parts all look good, these are for the shelf for now until next time I need to break down the filter. Only 4 stars because I can't believe a bag of steel, plastic and brass parts cost so much - oh my, I sound like my grandfather!

If you have the proper Haywood tank, this Spring Nut will fit & work perfect as it did for me.There is absolutely no need to spend over $200.00 for a new metal clamp when you have a stripped old brass Hex Nut.Good bye old steel wrench, the new Heavy Duty Black Plastic key makes install & complete tightening a snap. Buy it!

Good quality and perfect OEM fit. Good to have a spare since the brass elongated nut will eventually strip on the existing strap threaded stainless steel bolt.

Works great. The reason why brass thread on screw is mess up too early is too much strength going into screw. However use of rubber mallet to knock slightly on clamp during tightening makes wonder. Hard plastic wrench also gives nice control of torque. New type of clamp is better but still too expensive.

Very Hard to find parts for this older Hayward Pro-Grid filter unit, I had almost given up, but Amazon came to the rescue with the correct spring and brass nut kit that otherwise would have meant me purchasing a new cover and clamping ring, saving me several hundred dollars! Thanks Amazon!
