Strong and Self-Control!
Korie Robertson is the wife of Willie Robertson and they both star on the hit TV show Duck Dynasty. In Strong and Kind, Korie Robertson has written a brand new book about instilling positive characters traits into your children’s lives. She shared the powerful truth found in scriptures such as in Proverbs 3:1-2. This verse talks about the importance of keeping God’s teachings in our hearts and in our children’s hearts. God promises to give us long life and peace and prosperity if we follow his commands. Korie suggests parents choose two key critical character traits that they want their children to follow in their lives. Some of these traits include, “honest, loving, kind, loyal, persistent, encouraging, trustworthy”, and much more. Each chapter also includes some thoughts from Willie Robertson. One of my favorite chapters was entitled, “Self-Controlled”. This chapter discussed how vital it is to manage your self-control and how we can also be an example of this trait in front of our children. Korie shared how putting into place boundaries and greatly benefit our children. She explored how Adam and Eve struggled with God’s boundaries and not eating the forbidding fruit. They didn’t display self-control against temptation and ate the food and they sinned. This is why as parents we must teach our children self-control against all the temptations they may encounter. I have personally seen the benefits of setting boundaries in place and displaying self-control.I would recommend this awesome book to every single parent and future parent. I have always enjoyed watching Duck Dynasty and I strongly believe Willie and Korie live what they preach. I liked how Korie covered many different character traits throughout the book and she devoted a chapter to each trait. I liked how she gave parents the freedom to discuss the different traits they want to pass down to their kids. I’m not a parent yet or even married but I choose to read and review this book in order to already begin to prepare for having children. After reading this book, I would choose strong and self-control as the traits I would want my children to live by. Obviously these two traits could change because this is a book I will eventually reread with my future wife, whoever she is. If you’re seeking an excellent book on parenting, then read this book!

This would be a great gift for a baby shower, newborn celebration, or adoption party. Highly recommended!
I really enjoyed reading Strong and Kind: and Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed by Korie Robertson. From the beginning the author explained the importance of setting character traits for your children and used examples from her own family to enhance my understanding. I was midway through the book and already praying on what traits I valued in my own children. It's not too late to begin implementing the ideas. Read through the different traits and select two that you'd like to rank at the top of your family values.Korie and Willie selected strength and kindness for their own kids using the Bible as their family handbook. After reading this book TWICE it was easy for me to understand how this family is deeply connected as a unit. Each chapter ends with "Willie's Words" as he contributes his own experiences from a father's perspective. It's enjoyable to read from beginning to end! I hope Korie will continue writing more books! This would be a great gift for a baby shower, newborn celebration, or adoption party. Highly recommended!

You feel like you're reading something from a Friend :)
I'm not finished reading this book yet, but I'm relishing it.I feel like I'm reading something from a friend! This book just has a good 'feel' to it... nobody's boasting 'perfect parenting' & you're encouraged to think for yourself, for your family values, but you're given a path to get there. It's no wonder this book is sold out everywhere, my friend told me about this book as I'm telling you now. I'll refer to this book time & again as a 'manual' of sorts. My pastor always says 'show me your friends & I'll show you your future' - well I wish I had more people like this family in mine & my Son's life - I just love their Family Dynamic; importance on God & community.

Excellent book
This quote is one of the reasons I loved this book and will read it again and again: "I’ve heard it said many times that children don’t come with an owner’s manual, but they really do. The Bible has all the instructions we need to raise strong and kind children because every biblical truth is a parenting tip."Korie and Will discuss so many great ways to be a parent of character and how to instill those characteristics and values in our children. A truly excellent book.

Every mom needs to read!
This book has so many great truths in it! It really made me hone in on what character traits I want to instill in my children and focus on what truly matters— faith and family.

Wish I had this book when my kids were littler!
I love this book so very much. The basic principles on how to raise your child resonate so closely to my husband and I's own philosophies. But they articulate what we have not been able to say so clearly. And they make you feel reinforced, when sometimes external influences might push you to parent a different way. I love the Robertson family and enjoy watching them on TV. I do think that it times the book comes across with a bit of a self-satisfied air. But that might just be because I enjoy the self-effacing humor of authors like Jen Hatmaker.
