Old jazz feel + a James Bond kind of a song
LOVE you Celeste! It was worth the wait of a year - but now I see there's a signed version I regret buying that cd instead. My favourite is the soulful STRANGE, reflecting the ebbing-and-flowing nature of romantically-intimate relationships. IDEAL WOMAN is slow and melancholic. TONIGHT TONIGHT sounds like it belongs in a James Bond film. STOP THIS FLAME is an up-tempo modern jazzy number. TELL ME SOMETHING I DON'T KNOW is about love affair regrets, aptly mirrored in the loud parts of the music. NOT YOUR MUSE is a bold yet understated piece. BELOVED is a sweet, yearning love song to a new amour, a touch of Roy Orbison. LOVE IS BACK, crisp with a little funk, love the drums, a song about falling in love - again. A KISS, a first kiss meaning something and nothing, is slow and pensive. THE PROMISE laments the end of a relationship with dreamy undertones and an intro of birdsong. A LITTLE LOVE makes me think of old musical films. SOME GOODBYES COME WITH HELLOS, thoughtful, again another about the start of a love affair.Celeste's voice: Delicately smoky, with crystal clarity, rounded and emotional - is all these things. She reminds me a little of Macy Gray, yet her young voice is fresher with its own unique signature. The 12 x songs are old jazz/modern jazz with a hint of 70s' sparkle. I like how her voice is dominant and not drowned out by the band, but the band is brilliant too :) xo I like the balance of the two. So also a good job done in the mixing department.Only niggle, the white print of the songs at the 2nd half of the booklet isn't that legible. And that regret with not getting my copy signed! (the other listing I wasn't aware of) ;)
