At last ! a way to give call centre staff small electric shocks right into thier ears !!!!
Not really , sorry . however truecall is very good.I have been plagued by rude intrusive call centres for years . My elderly father and he is hard of hearing and has a very loud ring on his phone ... the nuisance calls have caused a lot of stress and we had so many that it got to the point that my standard way of answering the phone was to shout an obscenity as soon as i heard the background noise of a call centre. Not a nice situation to get in.After researching the best device to buy I chose true call as it's recommended on which and also won a dragons den award. My concerns that my 90 year old dad would not be able to use it were not justified as it can be set up in such a way that he need do nothing at all in terms of screening calls... basically if someone calls and the number is unrecognised it goes to a message where they are told that if they are friends or family to dial a code (i think its just a matter of pressing the two numbers it tells you follwed by hash) ... then if he speaks to them for longer than 5 mins the device automatically adds them to the star list ... the call centre employees probably cant understand the message, as not one of them has tried to get through so far.. but you can set it up however it suits you with options to have them leave thier name and then the phone rings you etc ...which would work well for most people, but there are many other options as well.It is also possible to log into the website from any where and check on the attempted calls from home to make sure no important ones have been missed or to edit his star or zap lists etc ... it is exgtremely satisfying to see all the abandoned marketing calls ... so good to know they are wasting thier time while we are left in peace .. I wish there were a way to actually physically harm call centre staff (just a small electric shock in thier ear would be nice) but true call is the next best thing. This equipment has brought a huge relief to us ... thank youupdate : 17/9/16 ... i love this so much Im thinking of getting one for home (the one i brought is at dads) a call centre bothered me at home this morning and I really notice the residual stress it has left in me ... I've spent my money on far worse things so this would be 100 quid well spent .. not got the spare budget right now .. but its on the list ... complete freedom from these vile intruders will be achieved.

there is nothing in the instructions to advise this so I wasted a few hours trying to set it up
VIRGIN Media customers. While this product does works well and does all it claims VM customers need to make a quick call to the helpline for them to make an adjustment which allows the box to work. While this was a free call which took minutes, there is nothing in the instructions to advise this so I wasted a few hours trying to set it up, thinking it was me. it transpires that the VM use a different Caller ID system so the box needs to be adjusted .The adjustment took seconds and all works as promised. ( Wish they had included the info in the instructions about Virgin rather than spending hours on the internet to find the issue wasn't with how my set up)4 out of 5 because of not advising about Virgin. Otherwise would have been 5.

Amazing call blocker
We had been suffering from nuisance foreign call centre and unwanted business phone calls since inheriting our landline number when taking over a B&B in May 2018. We had a dilemma - we didn't want to stop incoming landline and mobile calls that we didn't know (including from abroad) or change the already advertised number, but we did want to stop the intrusive nuisance calls. This device has solved our problems, and if you are suffering from similar calls, or even threatening or abusive calls, this device will deal with them. It can be set up to deal with incoming calls differently during the day and the night (you set the time periods). It can either let through callers that you have told it you know and are happy with at any time by putting them on a 'Star' list. Other callers can be set to be intercepted by the device, and, without your phone ringing, it will ask them for their name and for them to press the # key. This stops most nuisance calls in their tracks, but if they do, then it will put them on hold, ring you, and ask if you want to take the call. If you do, you can accept it, or you can put the phone down in which case the caller can be asked to leave a message, or you can add them to your 'Zap' list by pressing the # button yourself. The Zap list contains all the numbers you never want to hear from again, and if they ring they will get an automated 'go away and never bother me again' message without disturbing you. Added to that the device has an internal 'Community Zap list' that contains (about 1000 I think) of the worst nuisance callers who are automatically zapped before your phone ever rings. There are many ways that the device can be adjusted to handle all types of incoming calls, and the best way to do it is through a website link which is free for the first 12 months (then a small annual fee). Once you set the device up, register it, and log into your account you can easily set up all the parameters for each type of incoming (or outgoing actually) phone call type. It really is very clever, and although the price tag may seem a little high, if you suffer from these intrusive calls, this device can solve your problems and give you the peace of mind that those you want to phone you can, and those you don't want will be dealt with. Very satisfying, and well worth the price in my opinion. It has solved our problem.

No more cold calls
Prior to buying a trueCall Blocker, I had the other sort where you add each cold caller to the black list. However, the cold callers were winning the war by using a different number each time they called! After reading all the advice I could find, I set up my star list with local numbers using wild cards (e.g. 0207*, 0208* and 0203*) and mobile numbers (e.g. 07*) plus explicit numbers for out of town friends and relatives and nothing in my zap list. I have "Allow mid call zap" and "Allow mid call star" enabled, so if I get a cold call, I can instantly add the number to the zap list. Similarly, I can instantly add new friends. In the last month I have only received 3 cold calls which have all been zapped. It really is a miracle!Working with 1471 and 1571 numbers has been more of a trial, but eventually I set "ring duration" to 40 seconds so that these are now fielded only by BT.

Good idea spoilt by poor quality execution
Initially purchased for my father in law but he didn't get around to setting it up, so it was pressed into service at home some six months later. While reasonably easy to set up, it's annoying to find there's no cost advertised for the online management feature after the initial 12 month free period. Nor is any charge mentioned in any of the promotional information, so that's the first negative reaction - the immediate impression is of a company that's a bit sly about its business model.Next, the quality of the unit in terms of look and feel is very poor - everything about it gives the impression of being designed down to a price, which gives concerns for its longevity. After all, if the parts you can see look to be of low quality, what are the parts you can't see like?Thirdly, and critically, the sound quality of the recordings it makes - both for screening calls and for messages - is really, really poor, so much so that more often than not you need to listen to the message multiple times to understand what was said. In a device that's supposed to act as an answering machine this is unforgiveable.I will be contacting the company regarding this - it *might* be a faulty unit but I'm not holding my breath.
