Penn Elcom 1U LED Rack (Multi Color)

Work great! Low profile, multiple color choices and strobe effects. Put 2 in my cabinet. Maybe just make the logo reversible for mounting upside down.Edit: 2/23/22 I have upgraded my equipment and reorganized a bit. Lights still work great even with room lights on, although the color looks a bit different with the glass door not shut and white light on around it. Still stand by my review, but will amend saying these are pricey for ambient lighting. My OCD justifies the cost to have rack-mount lights vs rope lights tacked around the inside of the cabinet.

I love this light. I use it on my audio mixer cart. My only complaint is that the leds are exposed and the housing is not that impressive. It does the job though, and the colors are cool.

This 1u rack light is Amazing! I am using this on my guitar rack system, and it works great to see my gear when it's dark. I thought there were only 3 colors, but it comes with many other colors and different strobing and swell settings, along with brightness/dim settings. Would definately buy again!

I was looking for a way to light up my home server and there aren't too many pre-made options. After much searching, this is the only item that came up. For the price of this unit, I can hardly muster giving it more than 3 stars.The metal is pretty flimsy and it seems painted more than powder coated. There is no back plate so you can see right through the unit at pretty much any angle but down. To counter this, I drilled a hole in a 2U bracket for the plug, installed a gasket to protect the wiring, and mounted this unit on top.It's also not very bright since it's only a single strip of LED that isn't aimed down. No solution to this unless you feel like adding another strip of lights.

Great product. I just had 1 beef. Since lighting control buttons are on the top of the unit. you can't access them if you want to install in a ATA type fully enclosed rack in the very top-most 1U rack space.Thanx.

Where do I start with this review? Initially excited about this product. After opening I discovered it is nothing more than a sub $10 10mm footlong RGB light strip glued to a 1U rack mount. The light strip was already delaminating from the housing. Mounted unit and powered up. I jumped back a foot because it made a loud popping sound as sparks flew across my server cabinet with a big puff of smoke. Then oddly enough it started working and the lights flashed. Clearly the wiring inside shorted against the housing. This unit is a quality control disaster. I am fortunate to not have been shocked or to have lost tens of thousands in equipment or even worse, a home fire. I will be looking elsewhere for a more robust product.

So many rack mount lighting uses space behind itself when it doesn't have to. This unit is perfect for rack mount synths that need a lil' lighting without getting in the way of much needed I/O space behind it, simple but perfect!
