ClosetMaid 1494 KidSpace Small Storage Bench, White

This bench is surprisingly nice. Why do I say "surprisingly"? Well, first off, there were some bad reviews on here that the bench arrived damaged, and it was not sturdy. Second, Amazon sent the item through the postal service. My post office is the worst, so I figured this thing would not arrive in one piece. True to form, when it showed up on my door step, the brown Amazon box was torn open, dented, ripped - pretty much destroyed. But, ClosetMaid had this item really securely packed with Styrofoam within its own, interior box, and the bench was in perfect shape. No chips, cracks, nothing - it was pristine. I put this together myself in about 45 minutes. This is really a hearty and sturdy bench. My husband is 6'1" and over 200 pounds. He can sit on it without the bench wiggling or wobbling. We bought this for some extra storage in my daughter's room, and it will also give her a place to sit when she is getting dressed. She is little right now, but as she grows I think the bench will hold up well because she is fairly gentle with her things. My only complaint is that this was very messy to put together. I was covered with Styrofoam bits (from the packaging) and saw dust by the time I was done. I suggest putting this together in a basement or garage to avoid a big cleanup job. Overall, this was a great buy at a great price.

I needed a nice bench for my small entryway and this fits PERFECT. I had a hard time finding things that don’t overpower my space and I love the way this looks, and still provides good storage space plus a seating area that was needed. Definitely recommend. Easy to assemble, and I didn’t add the back panels, just to create a visual of more space. It looks great, just wish the cushion had a tie to secure it instead of sticky tape. That’s my only criticism,But for the price it’s a good deal

I use this for my shoes in my foyer. It’s awesome.It’s sturdy, and convenient. Prefect size, fits right between the stairs and an oddly placed wall I have.I like that the bench cushion is not attached. I can create different looks throughout the seasons.

This bench is incredibly easy to assemble after you realize that not all of these benches have all the pilot holes pre-drilled (I bought 5), and very inexpensive. I would say that this is the perfect project for newly weds to work on together if you have not established who is the dominate partner; the directions are reasonable well written, and the the argument as to who is going be the alpha will be short lived. However, if you are a perfectionist, or want to have a piece of furniture that will last forever, invest a better product. The veneer is extremely thin and will crack at the first turn of a crooked screw. This was perfect for my needs as I intended to modify before I purchased it, and I wanted to assemble myself without my partner involved to "lend assistance".

This ClosetMaid bench is sturdy, and looks exactly like the photo. It is a good buy for the price. Great for an entryway, with storage for scarves, hats, gloves. I bought it because we are tired of tracking dirt in the house, and want to take off our shoes the minute we get home. My husband and I are average height and weigh around 180. Went I sit on it, the bench feels solid, no give, no movement, no creaking. The beige cushion is firm, and you can't feel the bench though it. It can be fastened to the bench top with the Velcro strips provided, but I elected not to. I didn't want the adhesive to strip the painted top, but it does slide a little. Instead, I will put a piece of rug cushion under it, the kind that keeps rugs from slipping. The instructions are exceptionally clear! As long as you don't jump ahead, and follow them step by step, they make perfect sense. Just make sure you have good light and can see whether they refer to dowels or screws in different holes. I love the cam nuts. One person could put this together, but it is easier with two. My friend and I did it in a relaxed forty minutes. You will need both a medium-large flathead and a phillips head screwdriver.Unfortunately, when I set up this bench, I saw that the corners on two pieces were cracked and frayed, corners that matched up with really bad damage the box had taken. The bench is still usable because damage on the side piece faces the wall, and I hid the damage on the top piece with the cushion. I am not very happy, but can't imagine how I would send it back. The box with parts inside was VERY heavy, and the box could no longer be used to re-ship because it had been shredded.Fortunately, the contents had not gotten wet. You do NOT want to put this bench outside, in a bathroom, in a basement or any other damp area because, like all things made of particle board, it will warp and eventually fall apart. But it's perfect for my enclosed front porch, which is dry all year.I also purchased beige cloth folding bins by Sodynee, which fit perfectly into the bench — they completely fill the storage spaces and look great with the beige cushion. (They also have nice sewn-on label holders.)

The box that the bench came in had to packing in it, making it to where box just flopped around inside of another box plus no protection inside of original box to protect corners!! So obviously my box was damaged and so were 2 corners. Plus one hole on board was drilled incorrectly. BUT there is no way I’m going to ship back, box is heavy. With that being said I do like it other then it came damaged. It is sturdy & will do its job I bought it for still.

I really wanted a shoe bench for the hallway and had found others but they were all quite pricey. This is a great product at a brilliant price, it was easy to assemble and looks really smart and is of good quality, would recommend.

I'm a Senior, and I've assembled my fair share of furniture. It's always disappointing when holes aren't lined up, improperly drilled, or instructions are vague. The instructions for this bench were the best I've ever encountered. I had NO problems assembling this bench. No flaws in any of the pieces. I bought my bench to use as a TV stand, so I didn't use the cushion, but the top has a nice finish, so not a problem. Sturdy piece of furniture.

This is a brilliant product and exceelent value for money. Easy to assemble (unless you're my husband.....) and lovely sturdy quality, really finished off my boot room a treat. Wouldr recommend. Should also say the customer service at the seller was OUTSTANDING
