Dimmer than standard halogen bulbs
These fit my Passat well. However the brightness of any LED bub is defined by its ability to remain cool under operation. The brighter bulbs have a large cooling fan and pigtail wiring harnesses, but the design of the Passat headlamp has wiring that is integral to the headlamp body and thus it is difficult to fit this type of bulb.This bulb has a small fan that recirculates air from within the headlamp. In theory this should give a little cooling capability around which it should be possible to run the bulb a little brighter than bulbs with no cooling fan.Unfortunately this is not sufficient and the bulb offers no real brightness improvement over a standard halogen bulb. The light that is emitted has a blue tint and this makes illumination of gray asphalt roads even worse than it could be. Also the bulbs flicker when the engine is running at idle, and generate intermittent CAN fault codes.I cannot recommend this product.
