Counterfeits or cheap?
Can’t believe I’m saying this...But I’m very DISAPPOINTED ☹️! I’ve worn SAS for 20 yrs. They’ve been my go to shoe or sandal to alleviate pain from plantar fasciitis or heal spurs, in fact for many years they’re all I could wear - except this pair, I believe has caused my plantar fasciitis. I wore them for about a week when the pain started. I resorted to wearing my old pair. After 3 mos, the pain was subsiding so today I put the new ones back on - noting the foot cushion is much thinner, the arch is poor and not accommodating at all, also feel a heat & burning sensation from the insole material. In fact I came here to see if this pair I purchased Amazon are knock offs.I think they’re either counterfeit or SAS has cut back on quality. They’ve never been cheap but I could rationalize the cost for relief and comfort...now I’m in pain, out the money I paid, frustrated and soooo DISAPPOINTED☹️

Well made in the USA
I like these shoes - the width, the color - but the toe box is a little narrow for me. For most people, I think the shoes would be perfect. I have a bad little to on my right foot - ingrown nail or some kind of bone spur - which is very, very painful if there is pressure. I believe, if I did not have that issue, these shoes would be perfect. As it is, I will have to put a stretcher in the right shoe to push out the leather to accommodate that toe. I have a stretcher, so that is why I did not return the shoes. They are really well made overall.

So comfortable! Get fitted in the store for your 1st pair.
When I originally ordered a pair of Vivas directly from the SAS website, I ordered the size I normally wear in SAS shoes, 9W. When they came, they were huge. My heels came completely out of both shoes with each step. As for the color, I didn't care much for the red tone of the teak, but I had read that the newer colors may get damaged easily. When the shoes came, they were even redder than I thought they'd be. I arranged a return with SAS (and they were very gracious about taking the return). But rather than playing guessing games with the size, I went to a local SAS store to be fitted. The only color they had was black. The sales person suggested that I still try them on so I know what size to order on line. 9M worked. So I went home and ordered the same shoe in 9M. I ordered from Amazon rather than directly from SAS because Amazon saved me the shipping cost. When the shoes arrived, they were a perfect fit. In fact, until I got these shoes, I was having muscle spasms in my calves, ankles and feet several times a day and throughout the nights. I wear these shoes all day every day now and the muscle spasms have greatly decreased. Whatever was wrong seems to be healing.***Note about the color. Although I ordered the same color the 2nd time (teak), the 2nd pair came labeled as teak but seem to be from a different dye lot or something. They are a very pleasant brown, much more the color I prefer.

Great shoe for comfort and support
My twin sister has been wearing these shoes for years. When I started having trouble with my knee, she suggested that I try them. They help, believe it or not, because they give stability to the foot and ankle. These shoes are well made and very, very sturdy. After I bought my first pair, I bought these in a wider width because I wear heavy wool socks in the winter. This old Missouri farmer gives them a 9+.

Worth the price!
I have worn this style, "Viva", from SAS, for a long time. The shoes are true to size and width specifications, hold up well, and get better with age and periodic use of saddle soap and shoe polish. I use a shoe horn, initially, for putting the shoes on. The toe box is comfortable, even for long toes. Many shoes with enough room in the toe box are too loose in the heel -- not so with these SAS Viva shoes. The heel fits comfortably -- no slippage there, either. High arches/insteps are accommodated comfortably with this style, and the arch support is good without feeling hard or putting pressure on the arch of the foot. The shoe fits tightly enough that one does not have slippage of the foot within the shoe, but not so tightly that circulation is cut off. The sole is wide enough for stability when walking. The shoe looks nice enough to wear with business slacks, but it also goes well with jeans and cords. Treat yourself -- your feet will feel good, and that will make you happy!

Consistent quality
I've been using SAS shoes of all sorts since 1988, and not only are they consistently outstanding but they continue to improve. For example, in the old days, new shoes were a bit slippery but the new ones are slip proof from the first minute. Teak is a new'ish colour and I like it.

They ain’t pretty but…
These will not be your pretty work shoes by far but as a nurse working 12 hour shifts who periodically suffers plantar fasciitis and had a planters wart/callous recently, I was no longer able to wear any of my work shoe including DanskosThese shoes allowed me to work in comfort so they are a winner for me

Excellent product
After ordering several other shoes by various makers & returning them, I ordered these. I hv a pair from 1996 and reglued/repaired/new insoles still wearing them for gardening. They are well made, real leather w/great arch support. Will continue to wear this brand. Dress shoes are great as well.
