The light is rechargeable. Because of that, I am guessing it is not designed to replace the batteries.

Press the mode switch: 4 Mode First : Highlight Second : General bringtness Third : RED Flashing Fourth : Color Changing Fifth : OFF

Q: how long does it take to charge the battery?

Hard to tell when no dog leash light battery has died before breaking.
