Authentic Western Saga
This western saga kept giving. A young Texas Ranger wanna be is literally one leg short of joining the Texas Rangers, like his father. The ingenuity of a bridge designer, the skill of a farrier, and Jefferson's unbridled desire converge to make his dream come true. He is given his first task that leads him to legendary results. The descriptions of characters and settings combined with dialog I'd more than expect from the times make this a most entertaining read, easily in one sitting.

Great Read!
I have never read a “western” novel in my life. That being said, I LOVED this book! I cared about all the characters which is crucial for a novel. No spoiler alerts here but I cried as well at one point. I could visualize everything going on because the description was that good! I’m going to read all of Jim Christina’s books now that I’ve had this little taste. Well done, Jim! Anyone else thinking about it... DO IT! Get it! You will not be disappointed!

An action-packed, entertaining, and heartfelt story of heroism and survival...
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.Atmosphere plays a heavy role in this narrative early on. Immediately readers are taken into the old west era, living wild on the Texas frontier. The characters' interactions with one another and the author’s writing really brought the setting to life beautifully, capturing the essence and tone of the era for which the entire genre and this novel hinders. The author really captured the raw and dangerous nature of the times in that era perfectly, as well as the grueling nature of life on the frontier. However what really stood out was the classic show of heroism from protagonist Jefferson and ex-Ranger Caleb, both of whom made their stand against unbelievable odds to save innocent children from a dangerous situation. The action and dialogue felt like watching a classic spaghetti western, making the entire novel feel very visual in its delivery. An action-packed, entertaining, and heartfelt story of heroism and survival, author Jim Christina’s “Jefferson’s Chance” is a must-read western. Not only did the author perfectly bring this era of time to life, but the theme of overcoming great odds to realize one’s dreams and putting our lives on the line for the innocent really made this a remarkable western to read. If you haven’t yet, be sure to grab your copy today!

A Gritty and Great Read
Expect to be catapulted back to the Old West era of 1870's Texas. Jim Christina vividly and authentically evokes through skill and research this fascinating story of a Texas Ranger, Jefferson Greely, determined to do his duty, despite the loss of his leg, in pursuit of outlaws and marauding Indians, alike. I thoroughly enjoyed this story ~ "One riot, one Ranger."

Comfortable read
I received a review copy and spent a couple of days reading it and rereading certain sections. This story is nice and fun to follow. I did feel like I was enjoying something in line with a spaghetti western which was fun. I would recommend this for people who are fans of that genre. I enjoyed the the character development and the idea behind the main character is a nice new angle for the story.

Authentic & raw side of American history in the west.
A couple of gutsy Texas lawmen go after a pack of marauding and treacherous plains Indians. An authentic and raw portrayal of the way things really went down in the late 1800's. An engaging novel very well researched for western lore fans.Tom Lange

Excellent Historical Book
A stunning, gritty story of life in the 1880's. Add a couple of beyond heroic Texas Rangers and a Hispanic Ranch Owner plus true-to-life stories of Comanche raiding parties and you'll have a gripping story you can't put down. Well written, at times sad or heart wrenching, this I a great book!
