We really enjoy the Simple Morning Blueberry muffin mix so we were excited when learning they had a chocolate chunk option. We can’t find it in any brick and mortar store close so we ordered from Amazon. Delivery was quick. Upon receipt and making it they were too dense and had an overbearing chocolate flavor. I love chocolate and didn’t think “too much” was possible, but alas, it is.

I followed the instructions on the back (water, mix, oil and 2 eggs) and came out with delicious chocolate-y muffins!I made the medium size muffins, which is suppose to make a dozen but I think I could have made one or two more as I still had batter left over after filling up the muffin pan as suggested (3/4 full). I just made them a bit bigger with the leftover batter as I didn't want to do another batch in the oven with only one or two muffins. I also lined the muffin tin with paper baking cups as I always lose my battle against the greased muffin tin.I baked it for the longest period of time, which I think was 19 minutes for medium size muffins and it was fairly done by that time.I ate one (okay, it was two) not long ago, still warm from the oven and they are so taste-y.The top ended up with a nice crispness and the inside was soft and gooey from the chocolate chunks. There were a few crumbs, as you usually get with muffins but not overly so.Chocolate wise, this may be a muffin you have with a cup of milk. Another review mentioned that it doesn't taste like a cupcake and I have to agree with them. It definitely is more of a muffin and it definitely is something you need to try if you are a chocolate lover.

Amazon keeps sending this product with an expiration date of May 26, 2023. That was ok earlier in the year, but this latest delivery had an expiration date two weeks away, which seems a little late for a dry pantry item. I am cancelling my subscribe and save for this item.

OMG!! I love these muffins. They are moist and chocolatey divine. When warm, it melts in your mouth and your palate will be screaming give me more and more lol I cannot talk all day about muffins but these are worth every penny you spend. Great for the holidays. Love them, just ordered more.

These muffins barely had a chocolate flavor and did not have the rich flavor I was expecting. I was jonesing for something chocolate and thought these would be a way to satisfy my craving without eating an entire chocolate cake. I waited patiently for the mix to arrive and almost immediately ripped the box open and followed the easy instructions. However, even though these muffins were very easy to make; they tasted awful. I took one bite and gave them to my husband to finish. My husband will eat almost anything, but even he had a hard time choking down these bland, dry and disappointing excuses for a muffin. Maybe the other flavors the company makes are down right delicious, but I will never let a package of Duncan Hines "Simple Mornings" chocolate muffins cross my threshold. I was forced to consume a very luscious dark chocolate ganache and mousse cake to force the memory from my mind. Chocolate lovers beware.
