Q: Do I have to laminate both sides or can I just laminate the top?

You can do one side just make sure you get the right cartridge. I had a single sided laminate but with an adhesive backing. Check on all the variations for that machine to make sure you get the right one.

Q: How clear is the laminate? If I put a glossy printed photo through will it look perfectly clear or kinda foggy?

While I haven't done a nice photo yet, I believe it will be slightly foggy.

Q: I can't seem to find the refill roll that would be laminate on one side, and permanent sticker (not repositionable) on the other. Can you help?

The laminate/permanent cartridge is item # LAT1251-100.

Q: will it fit the 1250 machine?

Yes all Xyron 1255 laminate cartridge will work with the Xyron 1250 machine. Rick
