Simple, solid and good looking. Solved my problem perfectly.
My thanks to other positive Amazon reviews that tipped me off to this item. We have two bikes, and I had them on an expensive Topeak vertical bike rack -- one of those floor-to-ceiling pole designs. It was a disaster. It once came loose from the ceiling in high heat and dumped a bike onto the hood of my car. Beyond that, the cradles were very tricky to tighten in that if they were just a little too loose, the bikes would slooowly slide to the bottom of the pole. But if you tightened them just a smidge too far, the mechanism would strip and pop loose completely. I once spent 45 minutes trying to get them set correctly while they kept sliding down or popping loose. I had straps all over the bikes and hooked to the wall out of fear of another collapse. Now, with a new car in the garage, I didn't want a repeat of the tumbling bikes situation, but needed to go vertical again because I just don't have that many options in our smallish, densely packed (but neatly, I swear) garage. This rack did the trick.First off, this is good-looking piece. I got the plain aluminum and it's just gorgeous. It would do justice to the interior of anyone's house if you wanted to keep it inside. Besides the brushed aluminum pole, the other bits are heavily powder-coated, so they're slick and should stay beautiful and corrosion free. It's solid as a rock, with no wobble I can detect with the two vertical pieces screwed together.Assembly only requires a few moves, but it's a bit tricky. There is some fiddling and holding of several pieces at once while you tighten down the leg assembly on the bottom pole section, and the instructions fail to note that there is an "up" (with tiny holes to attach the top piece and a "down." Had to do it twice. But once assembled the whole piece is mechanically solid and smartly built -- a thick top plate fastens to a matching plate on the bottom with the legs arranged in between with molded nubs locking them into position. One leg faces straight forward, so it's extremely strong and stable. It feels like an industrial / commercial grade piece of equipment, and I have no fear whatsoever it will tip over. With the legs attached and the pole assembled, the arms slide into a track with small metal backing plates and tighten down with two short Allen-head screws each. That's a little fussy too, because one you have them slotted in, if you back out a screw too far in adjusting things, the back plates move around and you often have slide the whole arm up and out and re-insert it. It took a while to get the bikes where I wanted them (one has an unusual slanted top tube). But again, it's a solid, dead-simple system. The backing plates are solid powder-coated metal, and the track is built into the aluminum poles. It feels like nothing's going anywhere once you tighten things down. And because the arms move up and down independently, you can deal with an unusual top tube to get the balance right. Now that it's up, I don't know why I suffered with the inferior floor-to-ceiling friction pole thing for so long. The Velo unit just exudes quality and doesn't cost any more.Five stars for solving an annoying, potentially dangerous problem in my garage.

Beware of rigged evaluations and fancy descriptions.
Poor instruction, poor quality: I consider myself very handy, but, it took me a while to figure out the base stand . All you get is a card picture in the box. The metal is very weak. I considered returning this product if the UPS store was closer to my house. The bolts are soft bolts the Philips head stripped on the 1/4 inch bolt immediately. I replaced the bolt with an old one I had in my bolt collection.I HAVE NO CLUE HOW IN THE HECK SOME EVALUATORS GAVE IT 5 STARS. They must have received a different product than the one I received.

Sturdy, and just plain awesome
This bike rack is awesome. I'm not sure why some of the other reviewers had difficulty with the assembly, as I found it to be quick and easy. Once assembled, it's very very sturdy, even more than it looks like. It's likely due to the fact that this product is about 99% metal and little to no plastic at all. The only plastic on this kit is the cap at the very top.The arms allow for a decent amount of adjustment, plenty enough for my road bike and gravel bike. Both of my bikes are rather large (58cm frame) and there is enough room for both.I also purchased the basket to go with the stand, and it's also nice. I can fit my helmet, gloves, chain lube, chain cleaner, tail ight, psi gauge, etc.. with room for more stuff. I highly recommend the basket to go along with the stand.

UPDATE 2020: Easy assembly with Great looks - and it works!
Expertly packaged and designed for easy assembly. I was very impressed with how quick and easy this stand went together. And its a great stand that not only looks fantastic, but also holds odd-framed bikes with ease. Its very stable and a snap to adjust. Very happy with this purchase.2-year update (May 2020): I have cycled various bikes through this rack and am impressed how easy it is to adjust to a particular bike, along with how sturdy it remains to be. I still own this, have two bikes hanging from it, and still highly recommend this stand!

Product itself is excellent, but it arrived damage despite extensive packaging
The product itself is excellent, but it arrived damage despite extensive packaging. The top piece, where the braces need to slide in, was caved in (see pic) and had to be pared and bent back for the braces to get through (I live abroad, so returns are a huge hassle. If I can make it work, I do). We were able to get it to work, but it's not pretty. Given how much this was wrapped, and how thoroughly it was damaged, it seems likely it was dropped before being packed and shipped. We also bought the expansion for four bikes. It works great, but the replacement bar was extensively chipped (see pic) - again, clearly more damage than could have happened en route, and given the good shape the packaging arrived in. Also, pounding the two metal pegs into the alternate holes was quite the ordeal.

Very sturdy and good-looking bike rack
USPS delivered this for Amazon, the box was well-packed and looked secure to me.Assembly went quickly; you just need a philips-head screwdriver, maybe two: medium and larger. A hex key is supplied. The instructions are a little cryptic, but if you've assembled furniture before this will come as no surprise. I put a moving blanket on the floor to prevent scratches, and it went together quickly. The legs have rubber tips, also to prevent scratches to flooring. The rack is really sturdy, stable and free-standing; it does not need to lean against anything. Impressive design. It seems to fit "most" bikes via the arms, which are padded. I have an old Specialized FSR X/C from the turn of the century which does not seem to fit well because of the odd shape, but that was no surprise -- my old rack didn't really fit it either (the rack was a "leaning" design). For my purposes it fits my other (even older) Trek 930 just fine and gets it off the floor, which was the main reason for buying.

One of the best stands
That's exactly what I was looking for. I have another one from other branch and as far as the two accomplish perfectly with the function, the Velo cache is far superior. It has more stability and fits better my road bike frame. In addition the quality of the materials is much more higher and the assembly is not as painful as others. Price is a bit higher, but if you want quality and you do not mind, is probably one of the best stands in the market.

Ambiguous assembly instructions!
I hate giving products a failing grade but in this case feel I must if for no other reason to urge the manufacturer to develop assembly instructions as the ones included are vague, ambiguous and misleading. Yes, I was able to figure it out in the end but for what should be straight forward assembly was rendered frustrating due to the shortcomings of the assembly instructions! Wasted too much of my valuable time. Annoying!

Great Bike Storage Option
Excellent bike storage rack. Bought along with the expansion kit to hold 4 bikes right off the bat. Assembly was fairly straightforward, though as others have noted if you need to take the pins out you'll definitely need to do some hammering. Extremely sturdy though and clearly well made. Sharp looking too. Hard to go wrong with this choice!
