WORKS GREAT
OK, the way this comes the pressure to trip is too much. The first night I tried it some of the bait (PB) was licked off but the trap did not trip. So I looked up the average weight of a mouse and it is about 25 grams and that is about what 5 quarters weigh. so I have now turned out the center screw which tilts the plank down and now the 5 quarters trip the trap. We will see if this works. I will report on the results. So the next day the trap worked and I had a mouse in the bucket which meant that my adjustments worked as I stated above. This will work fine in the garage so I can catch them before they try to get into the house. When it gets real cold I plan on using a antifreeze mixture in the bucket so it does not freeze. So with the adjustments I will give this trap 5 stars.Update-it seems the 5 quarters were not the best because I found that some mice has licked the BP but did not trip the trap so I reduced the force on the plank and over the weekend I caught 2 more mice with the reduced setting. I will report on the setting (# of quarters) later.Just purchased my second Plank Mouse Trap to put on the other side of the garage. It is starting to get cold so the mice will be moving in. Once they get under the door they have to go right or left so I want to be able to protest both sides.

Not a total slam dunk yet but.....
So far this trap has been hit and miss. The most confusing thing about the trap are the two screws underneath the one end of the plank. The instructions that come with it make no mention as to what they are for. There is one screw on each side of a magnet, which is embedded within the underside of the plank. Turning the screws counterclockwise creates a steeper decline while screwing them into the wood more levels the plank, but the magnetism is no less. Since both halves of the screw heads create a strong magnetic force, the amount of weight needed for a mouse to trigger the trap is a bit excessive. I can't understand how some people were able to test this with coins when the incline of the trap will make them slide off and even at a level position like the one in the pictures needs a lot of coins. My first attempt at trying to catch these rodents, I used a mix of peanut butter crackers, almonds and peanut butter. I used four water bottle caps.I placed three on the ramp with velcro strips to hold them in place and evenly placed them on the ramp. Then I placed one at the very end of the plank, using a rubber band to hold that one in place. I placed my set up on some floor boards, making sure the ramp to the plank was wedged against something so as not to fall, since the piece of wood it rests on that is screwed into the trap is very thin. The first time the mice cleaned me out. They took most of my bait, with the exception of one little piece of cracker. I left it there and checked later in the day. To my surprise, I found two mice in the bucket! Now I am not sure if they were even in the bucket the first time I tried the trap or if I actually caught them the second time. But I believe it took two mice at once to trigger the trap. I say this because this morning I checked my trap after re-baiting it. When I checked again this morning, the mice had cleaned me out once more. This time they chewed through the rubber band that was holding the bottle cap in place at the very end of the plank. So the mouse was at the end of the trap but did not fall in.I had a light bulb go off in my head this morning and I am now trying something different. I decided to take one of the screws and screw it to the far right. I left the other on the left side underneath the magnet and screwed it into the wood as far as it will go. Now the screw to the far right will allow me to raise or lower the plank and now makes a bigger difference as to how sensitive the trap can now be set and the amount of magnetism created between the left screw and the magnet. I have to wonder why the company that makes this device did not install the screws further apart. I hope to report on the results later on as I know I still have some rodents lurking in my attic.UPDATE AS OF 3/30/2018 - Looks like the adjustments I described above worked! I caught two more mice last night. I also posted pictures of my trap set up and my modifications to where the screws are now. I believe separating the two screws further apart from one another helped.

Does not work for rats larger than 5-6 inches— which most rats are, of course. Too small. They just sit on edge of 5 gallon bucket, eat bait, and if the plank falls, the scurry off. I’ll try the larger planks and reset. But i wonder, in this case it must be a larger, wider deeper bucket—-and then the design won’t fit. Hmmmm.

dont like it; waste of time
tried it for four nights. the first three nights the platform didn't collapse -- though the mice managed to get to the treat at the end of it. the fourth night i decided to extend the platform using some card stock and tape; this time the platform collapsed but the mouse jumped right out of the large paint bucket (which was 15 inches tall; okay, my fault for not measuring).i had much better luck with box traps -- cheaper, take up less space, and more reliable.

Worked on the worlds smartest mouse
Awesome trap. I tried everything, glue, snaps, homemade contraptions, finally I tried this and after adjusting it to tip at the weight of three quarters on the end but made sure it stayed up with four quarters in the middle to lure a false sense of security for the critter, caught him within hours. This is the best design ever that will catch the shrewdest of mice. I had one in my kitchen that eluded me for weeks and all my problems were solved within hours. Used a two ramp system with two traps facing each other, used a pea sized amount of peanut butter on the very end and pressed a honey nut cheerio on it with a few teaser cheerios leading to the end and Voila!! Gonna set up more in my garage for future invaders! Woohoo, no more mouse poop in my kitchen!

Damaged
Of course. Some days you feel like you can't win for losing buying products here. I was excited to receive my mousetrap in the mail. However, upon inspection, it's clear that the build quality is very very very low. The magnetic screw has split the wood in the main area of the Trap. I'm sure whoever put this thing together could easily see that the wood was splitting but they packaged it up and sent it anyways. That's what bothers me. Not that something has a low build quality but that whomever sent it, saw the damage and put it in the mail anyways. This will not prevent the Trap from working, however it does make it a low quality product with less of a life span. And it means that the people selling it are not folks that I want to be friends with or buy from.I just feel like it's not too much to ask for the things I buy to not arrive damaged. If you like this kind of mousetrap, build it yourself or buy it from someone else.
