No Escape aka Escape From Absolom

This was a movie I used to watch a lot on HBO back in the 90's and never really had any good home video releases after the VHS era, the DVD was non-anamorphic and very poor as most HBO DVDs are. This new blu ray saves the day and brings new life/attention to this film which not many people know about or have seen, this would be a great way for newcomers to be introduced to it. The transfer (from a 4K scan) looks terrific and the best it's ever looked, it sounds pretty good as well although nothing really demo worthy here sound wise. It sounds like a 90's action/sci fi movie should sound. There are a bunch of new special features on her as well since the old DVD had nothing on it except an older "Making of" and trailers/tv spots. This wasn't a hit when it came out in 1994 but it's developed a cult following on video since then and I recommend picking this blu ray up.

As a fan of action-packed thrillers from the 90s, I was excited to add "No Escape" to my collection on Blu-Ray. Starring Ray Liotta and Lance Henriksen, this movie takes place in a dystopian future where a brutal prison is located on a remote island. The film is directed by Martin Campbell, who would later go on to direct the James Bond movies "GoldenEye" and "Casino Royale."The transfer to Blu-Ray is fantastic, and the picture quality is crisp and clear. The colors are vibrant, and the movie looks better than ever. The sound is also impressive, with the thrilling soundtrack and intense action scenes making full use of my surround sound system.But it's not just the technical aspects that make this Blu-Ray worth purchasing. The movie itself is a thrilling ride from start to finish. Ray Liotta plays a former Marine who is sent to the island prison after being wrongly convicted of a crime. He soon discovers that the prison is run by corrupt officials who force the prisoners to fight to the death in a gladiatorial arena.The action scenes are intense and well-choreographed, with Liotta and Henriksen delivering memorable performances. There are also moments of tension and suspense as Liotta's character tries to escape the island before it's too late.Overall, "No Escape" on Blu-Ray is a must-have for fans of 90s action movies. It's a thrilling and entertaining ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommended!

I've been a big fan of No Escape since seeing it in theaters years ago (1994, although it takes place in the far-off futuristic year of *gasp* 2022!), and I'm glad that it finally got a quality blu-ray release. The video is shockingly crisp and free of print damage and grain considering how relatively obscure the film is, and unlike some of the reviewers here, I watched the blu-ray from beginning to end and didn't experience any audio cuts or drop-outs. I guess I got lucky? But if you're looking for a fairly unique action flick with a great cast (Ray Liotta, Lance Henriksen, Ernie Hudson and Stuart Wilson, among others), then give No Escape a try. If you do run into audio issues (again, I didn't), you can always just exchange/return it.

this was a repeater on HBO and now that its upgraded to Blu ray, i'm happy!

A solid science fiction film that combines elements of “Max Max”, “Escape from New York” and prison films, “No Escape” has a terrific cast, a great performance from Stuart Wilson that brings an element of menace and humor.Captain J.T. Robbins (the late Ray Liotta) ends up put in prison for life after he murders his CO. His CO had his men commit atrocities in Benghazi. He ends up on an unofficial isolated private prison island where the prisoners have no guards and have to survive on their own. There are two groups-the Outsiders led by Marek (Wilson) and the Insiders led by “the Father” (Lance Hendrickson) Cindy’s rly at war. Robbins must choose a side if he wants to escape the island. Liotta makes a great action lead.The film is flawed but still terrifically entertaining. Unearthed films uses a new 4K scan of the original negative for the film. The film has had extensively clean up and looks and sounds marvelous. I’ve seen some comments on the sound dropping out at the conclusion but I didn’t experience that with the original stereo mix and the 5.1 sounded fine to me. Perhaps it’s dependent on the player. Ballyhoo Pictures provide the extras. They include audio interview featurettes with producer Gale Anne Hurd, director Martin Campbell, writer Joel Gross and an archival featurette (about 28 minutes). The alternate opening title card and a short original featurette from the time of production. A promotional gallery and trailers round out the special features.‘No Escape” remains a entertaining science fiction film about a future prison. Unearthed has done a fine job of<presenting this. While it is also available in 4K from Germany, I’ve heard it is an upscale of this the same 2K presentation here.

Great movie, forgotten gem thats worth a watch if your into dystopia future prison movies.

Fantastic release from Unearthed Classics, Ray Liotta in No Escape (Escape From Absolom)Finally managed to get this great release, I’ve had it on DVD since first released in 1994.All i can say is Wow…. Picture quality now in 1080p is a big upgrade from the old DVD. Grain is intact but natural with the clarity so improved. Also the DTS-HD master 5.1 sound is clear and punchy.Also i can confirm it plays on my UK Panasonic Blu ray player, so the region code on the back sleeve is incorrect, it definitely is also region B here for the UKPicture is 2.35:1 widescreenSound 5.1 dolby DTS English, also - LPCM stereo 48k, LPCM stereo 48k French.Subtitles in English and FrenchPurchase with confidence it’s well worth the money.

Pas d'édition blu-ray française pour ce film mais une édition espagnole, en zone B donc, avec VF et VOSTFR. L'image est digne d'un blu-ray et est donc d'une qualité infiniment supérieure à celle du dvd, pourtant chez Sony Pictures, qui était assez médiocre. Par contre le making of de 28 minutes de cette édition n'est pas présent, aucun bonus d'ailleurs malheureusement.
