DMR For Beginners: Using the Tytera MD-380 (Amateur Radio for Beginners)

Direct, to the Point.
I like this book. It gets straight to the point without all the useless history of the radio crap. It jives exactly with the TYT MD-380. Unfortunately the radio this book covers is a piece of Chinese crap and does nothing but piss you off because it simply does not work.

Nice little book on programming MD-380
Nice little book on programming MD-380, as I have worked with the radio I learned that you do not need to create a scan group for every individual contact as mentioned in the book. Pictures are a little difficult to read, can find same information on multiple websites for free.I commend Brian for writing this manual, guessing it was one of the first sources for new MD-380 users.

Very basic info.
Being a General class ham I thought I would try something different and experiment with DMR radio. I ordered this book and found it to be something that the author must have written out on a napkin during his lunch hour. Screenshots where grayed out and so small you need a magnifying glass to read it. It is also missing some informational line steps in programming certain modes. You get what you pay for! Can't recommend it. Would advise new DMR users to watch UTUBE videos or do internet searches. KE0SJQ

Unmaking the complexity of DMR
A well written text on quickly getting started with DMR.A must have for this inexpensive digital mode. You will be pleased.

Hard to read
Has many screen shots which are practically unreadable. Too small and thus too hard to read. Book might be OK if only the screen shots were full size and more contrasty. NOT recommended. Hopefully a better instruction can be downloaded from the internet.Disappointed.

Information you can actually use
This book contains something the all of the other published information lacks - an example of what an actual codeplug looks like. Nice, basic information regarding DMR.

Good Primer Into DMR
Although this book revolves around the Tytera brand of DMR radio, it provides a fairly good primer on the subject of the DMR platform. Understand though, of the small handful of different brands of radios on the market, each has subtle differences that this book does not cover. In my opinion, the author is a bit vague in some instructions and could provide more in the way of “step by step” wording, and photos, to help clarify important instructions. All in all, this is a good place to start in the DMR learning process.

This is all you need to get started BUY IT
Simply written, easy to follow, and very brief. No needless jargon or incomprehensible tech. Hoping the author writes a book on the Nano Spot.

Ok but. . .
Aimed more at the American market but still mostly relevant in UK. Probably better for the informed beginner rather than the absolute beginner. The book’s a bit thin on information as well as physically. Ok otherwise

Very basic info
This e-book has very basic info for the Tytera MD-380 DMR radio. It tells you no more than a bit of simple searching online will uncover, in fact, I had already found the info in this e-book elsewhere before purchase. I was hoping for slightly more in depth information into the items that are not normally explained.

useful for new users
Well written and informative. Though aimed specifically at users of the TYT-380, it should prove useful to anyone just starting out in DMR; just don't expect detailed technical depth.

Limited information
Lots of "do this" information but no reasons why or any operating info. Shame, I'm sure it will produce a functional codeplug but doesn't result in any understanding. Could do better.

Really basic.
If you already have a codec for this radio you dont need this book.
