Good product, comparing 3 for cut the cable strategy
Although [...], the Channel Master website, clearly stated that there was no indoor antenna that would give me OTA reception at my new location, I tried the Channel Master Omni-directional SMARTenna by Channel Master. The Antenna Web [...] website was more optimistic and suggested that 3 channels might be possible if 30 feet above ground.I had experimented with the Channel Master Ultratenna Outdoor Antenna at the same location and received 3 to 5 channels depending on angle and installation locations. One angle/location gave me 2-3 channels and a slightly different angle gave me another 2. This was only on perfect winter days, of course. However since the location requires an indoor antenna, I tried 3 different indoor models. The Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified Indoor Antenna previously gave me good, workable reception when used indoors in a brick building in a different city, but it produced no useable results here. The Mohu Leaf Ultimate Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna, taped to the sliding glass door, produces between 0 and 3 channels, and fairly reliably at least one TV network in poor weather, although there are days when nothing can be received. Yes, as others have noted, it falls off the window frequently.I had hoped to better that with another Channel Master product, but reception was not better than with the Mohu Leaf during the switch out. The weather was poor so the Leaf received 1 channel and the Channel Master SMARTenna received 0 stations. All these named products are great in particular locations, but may fail in your location. Check Channel Master and Antenna Web for recommendations and to set realistic expectations. Read the Amazon reviews, and pay attention to the color-codes. Try outs may be required. If you are unlikely to be satisfied with the predicted reception, and if you have high speed Internet connection (3 Mbs or higher) with a wireless router, consider adding a Roku Streaming Player to fill many of the gaps. Costs will still be much lower than most cable TV contracts.

More directional than you might think
Seems the antenna is more directional than you might think. Installed outside at about 12-feet off the ground on the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I am 24-28 miles from the broadcast antennas and less than a 5-degree spread between them all. Not scientific, but checked signal strength on a Toshiba TV for a High-VHF digital station and initially got 50%, by rotating the antenna was able to get it up over 90%. There is only one High-VHF station in our area and this antenna fills the bill, added a DB4 antenna for the UHF. Overall, both are still pretty compact.

Channel Master Omni-directional SMARTenna
This antenna provides a good alternative to high cable and satelite prices at a low one time price.I recieve all the major networks and many PBS stations from multiple directions, mostly all inHigh Definition which is sometimes superior to cable reception. Some of the fringe stations over 25 miles away fade in and out occasionally mostly due to weather conditions. (Rain, fog and windy conditions.) My antenna is mounted on a 21' length of 1+1/2 pipe extending about 6 feet above my mobil home roof. I believe the reception would be even better in extended a bit higher, and should be guy wired to reduce the wind effect. Although the antenna is "omnidirectional", I have found a minor rotation of just a few degrees can improve a weak station. Over all I am very pleased with the performance. I am about 20 miles south of Tampa, Fl and receive some 28 watchable stations not counting the spanish stations.

A Huge disappointment--update
Just received this 2 days ago, very disappointed with it. No better than the GE indoor flat panel passive antenna ($20.79) I had previously purchased at target, In fact the picture is actually better with the GE antenna. I couldn't wait to get this antenna, what a disappointment! It's going back tomorrow. I even went to Antenna web, put in my zip code, it showed me the color code I needed, clicked on the vendor link and this was the antenna that came up. most channels in my area are marked for yellow, but our local CBS station is coded green, and this antenna matched all. The physical quality looks good, it came with a lot of mounting hardware, a coax cable, and even a 90 degree coax connector. The search goes on, I sure cut my cable bill though.I purchased a Winegard Model # FVHD30H at Home Depot, I figured I would give it a try, easy install, hooked to 3 TVs. A great picture ! I purchased a 42" flat screen in Jan. 2014 andthis is the FIRST time I have seen 1080p !, this antenna will mount anywhere outside, on the house, pole, rail, I see it here (Winegard FreeVision FV-30BB HDTV Antenna). IF I would haveknown how good it was I would have bought it here, bought it at Home Depot on a whim

Works fine
We have this antenna already several 3-4 years, and it works perfectly. A bit low signal perception during snow storms here in Canada, are OK. Other 98% of the time it just works. All basic public broadcasting TVs for free.

I live in downtown Edmonton and have 7 digital OTA channels within 20 miles. After purchasing this item no more rotating or pointing antennas to receive all stations. Hook it up, set it down and go. I have 3 tvs in my home and it worked the same for all.

Works Great
Installed in the attic of my garage and wired it to a four-way amplified splitter to send signal to the four tvs in my home. Works great and easily picks up all 6 of the OTA channels in my area. It's nice that you don't have to point the antenna in a particular direction as the built in directional antenna picks up signals from all directions.I recommend installing it as high up as you can as it will work much better at picking up OTA signals.
