Q: We raise honey bees, will it kill them?

I have one next to my bee yard . ZERO bees attracted. NO affect on bees . It doesnt bring bees to a house . There sre other reasons .Very affective on Wax moths and hive beatles.SEERIOUSY! Immediate downn ppopulation of female mosquitos . Males are vegetarian.This allso combats HEARTWORM as kills the carrier mosquiro between dogs. Big affect on mosquito larve wigglers. They also combat insects in gardehs. Inherent in UV TiO2 there is a drop in UV output where should replace bulb every three months to keep CO2 poduction.It still attracts other insects. With CO2 also slight increase in H2O and heat helps attract female mosquitos . CO2 long range other up close . No I don't own stock, yet.

Q: I don’t want to catch moths. Does the unit work without the light?

No, the light is what is used to attract bugs. You can try to use an octenol based mosquito attractant on the unit, but I don’t know if it would really work. I personally don’t mind killing every bug but if you want to be discriminate in killing bugs, you will need to get something like a mosquito magnet, or even better, get a thermacell which you keep near you and it is incredibly effective at repelling mosquitos.

Q: Will this attract and kill fireflies?

Yes. If its attracted to blue light, it will get drawn in. but they might not be killed right away. My wife doesnt like that it draws in moths, so every morning she lets the moths out.

Q: How are the bulbs to be installed?

Turn the unit off, unplug and allow unit a minute to cool. Use the included screwdriver to remove the screws on the plastic cover on both ends of the bulbs. Remove the clear plastic cover by squeezing the tabs and pulling downward. Repeat this process on the other side of the bulbs. Turn bulb counter clockwise and pull straight down. Remove both bulbs. Insert new bulb into the socket, twist clockwise until secure. plug the unit in and turn it on to test that the bulbs are now working. If they do not come on, unplug the unit and remove the bulbs and try to re-seat them again. If the bulbs come on, then re-attach the bulb cover.

Dissappointed

We purchased this in the UAE and was sent an item that has a US voltage. (UAE is 220 W). Disappointing to have to return as this will not work without a voltage converter. It should NOT be advertised on the UAE Amazon site if it is not compatible with the voltage in the country.
