Pokemon: Diamond & Pearl Box 3Collecting Pokémon is no easy task, Dawn finds, and training them can be even harder! The work pays off as she and Ash and Brock make their way to Eterna City for Ash's next gym battle, then on to Hearthome for the Sinnoh Double Battle Tournament. But the biggest challenge of all just might be getting there! Can a Pokémon with teleportation skills give them a hand?]]>

Best value for some of BW's best episodes!
Ever since the Pokémon animé went to wide screen & HD in the middle of Diamond & Pearl (halfway through Galactic Battles [12th season]), VIZ has been charging more and more for fewer episodes on each DVD box set, however, this set changes all that. With four discs containing the entire second half of 15th season (Black & White Rival Destinies [25 episodes]), it's the first in a long time that's worth even the retail price ($26.99) - and even better if you can get it for a discount!!Not just for the number of episodes you get, but as BW (or Best Wishes, as called in Japan) transitions to Best Wishes2, as mythical Pokémon Meloetta joins the group, Ash is reunited with traveling companion Dawn and champion Cynthia from the Sinnoh region, linking Black & White to the preceding Diamond & Pearl, adding some of that series' depth to the much-lighter-by-comparison BW series. I could go on about everything else I enjoyed about BW - the animé's (and TPCi's) best English-dubbed series by far, Team Rocket finally getting a life (that saga ending with the 2-part Meloetta epic), and Ash's Unova journey overall whose best episodes start on this box set.So glad to also see in that 16th season (BW Adventures in Unova) has already been announced with its first DVD release will be another 4-disc box set, reasonably priced, which will likely include the Unova League (and the few preceding episodes), and the epic 14-part Episode N. Thanks for making the Pokémon animé affordable again!

A great finish to a Great season
There's plenty going on in this Pokemon DVD set; Ash battles Gardenia for his 2nd Sinnoh Gym Badge, Cynthia (The Sinnoh League Champion) makes here debut, we learn a thing or two about Paul and Chimchar's past and witness the most intense Tag Battle Tournament in all of Sinnoh.

To me, Pokemon is getting stale. The first few seasons were good, but they keep introducing new Pokemon that somehow have been hidden for years, keep replacing Ash's female companions instead of the villains while having the same old Team Rocket stay around, to the point of their role diminishing in later seasons. And somehow Ash never gets any older, nor any closer to being a Pokemon Master, and have they ever even said what you have to do to become a Pokemon master? It's over 800 episodes now.However... In addition to the Hunter J and Team Galactic episodes in Diamond and Pearl, episodes on this disk impressed me. Because for the first time in the series, Ash battles Giovanni, even though he loses pretty quickly. I won't give too much away but this is the biggest role we've seen Giovanni play since Mewtwo Returns.
