Q: Can I use my doorbell style wall button instead of the included control wall console?

They make compatible door bell style but has to be theirs. It's doing more then just 2 wires contacting like most door bell style.

Q: Does this have battery back up?

You might be able to buy it as an extra but it did not come with it

Q: Why is the rail not included? What sort of nonsense is that? On the Liftmaster site it states that this unit comes with a rail.

Shipping something that is over 6’ long, like a rail for a 7’ or 8’ door isn’t cost effective. The oversized freight charge is at least $60 on top of everything. After you buy the rail, which is around $80-$100, with the oversized shipping and the motor head you are getting into the $400-$500 range. You might as well have a local company come out and do it all for you. I was quoted $400- $450 total install with everything from a few local companies
