Moth Genocide in a package! Nuvan Prostrips Work!
Lessons I have learnedLesson #1: NEVER put anything into a storage unit, or any kind of storage at all, without a pest control plan. Knowing what I know now, I would have hung the correct number of Nuvan Prostrips in the storage unit as a preventative measure. Nuvan Prostrips work against a wide variety of critters: bedbugs, moths, lice, roaches ...etc - most importantly, they work against all stages of the bugs and kill within a short period of time.Lesson #2: INSPECT all items coming out of storage. Learn how to detect various insects, some are more difficult to detect than others. Even, if you are stressed out after moving, as I was, you must do this. Without inspecting your goods, a small moth problem can spread everywhere. Textile moths don't like light and are only 3/8" long with silvery beige wings. It's likely you will never see one, even with an infestation. They hide in dark, still places. The larvae may be buried between the fibers of your clothing, blankets, rugs, furniture etc. and are busy doing damage. It is a myth that they only go after wool. In our case, they ignored woolen clothing which had been drycleaned at any point in the last ten years. They loved wool sweaters, which I handwash (handwashing does NOT kill Moth eggs or larvae), and they loved Polar Fleece - a totally recycled synthetic fiber. They also were found in rayon, a cellulose fiber, not a Keratin fiber. They are easily detected by taking the items into the bright sun, which they hate. In the sun, they will pop out of the fabric. The larvae look like dog hairs or tiny lengths of silk thread. If you crush the white "thread" in your fingers and it squooshes or disappears, then it is not a hair or thread, it is a moth larvae. They tend to drop off the clothing and die when you take them into the sun, but this is not a foolproof solution. They can still be hiding in linings, interfacing, on the undersides of collars, etc..Lesson #3: Contact a pest control company immediately if you suspect a problem. I didn't and spent a stressful 2 weeks trying to deal with the moth issue myself. Yes, mothballs work (but they stink forever); yes, you can put items into black plastic bags in the hot sun and kill most larvae & eggs; yes, freezing suspect textiles for 2 weeks works if you have a big enough freezer: yes, 30 minutes in a hot dryer will kill them: yes, dry-cleaning kills all stages of the moth. But after a $600 dry cleaning bill and even more spent cleaning & moth-proofing valuable rugs, I really WISH I had called the Pest Control first and learned about Nuvan Prostrips.Lesson #4: Use the Nuvan Prostrips exactly as directed on the package. The EPA says,"The label is a legal document and its instructions must be followed accordingly." Pesticides are regulated by the EPA, as well as state agencies. It is a violation of Federal Law to use these products in a manner not consistent with the product label. Additionally, in most states use of a pesticide not in accordance with the label is a violation of state law.Lesson #5: My Pest control guy showed me that the Nuvan Prostrips should be hung high, since the vapors sink. He hung them from AC vents to help disseminate the vapor. The Prostrips can be cut to the correct size for the room in which they are to be placed. DO NOT touch the Prostrips with your bare hands. Save the foil packet, as unused portions can be carefully sealed in the foil packet. When you are done treating the room or closet, the Prostrips can be safely used in a crawl space or garage - any place you do not spend more than 4 hours. Using up the Prostrips this way makes more sense than disposing of them, for which there are quidelines on the package. The Prostrips continue to work for 4 months. In the case of moths, he recommended use for at least one week to kill all stages of the critter. We went for two weeks. Since we have large walk in closets, we placed one 65 gram Prostrip in each closet. Each Prostrip treats an area of 1200 cubic feet or in our case, a 10 X 10 X 12 room. We also used the Prostrips in 2 upstairs bedrooms which were not in use and are on a separate HVAC system. After inspecting all our small rugs, quilts etc outside, we placed those items in the upstairs bedrooms. After hanging a Prostrip In the master closet, we sealed off the closet floor vent and sealed the closet door with heavy duty tape. We then sprayed all rooms in the house and upholstered furniture, everything but the kitchen, with SLA spray, which gives an immediate knock down of bugs, eggs & larvae, before leaving the house for the day. The SLA spray was for areas in which we were unable to hang Prostrips, as these areas are in use for more than 4 hours a day. After a few hours you can re-enter a room sprayed with SLA and there is no smell. It's safe to use on dogs, even. By doing this we were insured that our whole house was treated at once. The kitchen has no textiles and was treated with another bug spray, D-Force HPX Deltamethrin, which is food service safe, and will kill moths, as well as other possible kitchen pests. It will not kill larvae and eggs, but then they only hang out on textiles.Lesson #6: Nuvan Prostrips WORK! We did not seal off the upstairs rooms. It's OK to spend less than 4 hours in those spaces and so I was able to check on the progressing Moth Genocide. Almost immediately, I saw dead eggs and larvae on clothes. The eggs and larvae, which when alive, are invisible in anything less than bright sunlight, show up as white spots about the size of a pinhead or a silk thread or dog hair when killed. They will crush in your hand and can be brushed off the garment or textile. The best thing about treating with Nuvan, is that there is little to no work. Yes, you have to figure out which items are most at risk, yes, you must hang the appropriately sized Nuvan, but that's it. Nuvan does all the work. Best of all, Nuvan Prostrips do not smell or leave a lingering odor, unlike the scent of mothballs, which lingers forever.Lesson #7: Now that I clearly see the evidence of Moth Genocide, I will continue to check for moths in the next few months. I plan to hang Pheromone traps, which are harmless. They attract the male moth; he is killed by getting too close to a sticky substance. In this way no reproduction is possible, but you could still have larvae chewing away in your clothes or rugs. If you see moths stuck to the Pheromone trap, then you know you have a problem and can bring out the bigger guns.I was initially lucky because I had the early warning of a rug, which had come out of storage and was rolled up and placed in a corner. When I first saw a moth, it was obvious this rug had endured several moth life cycles during which they set up moth condos in the middle of the roll. The rug was the Typhoid Mary of Moth infestation. I chucked the rug, which was ridden with holes, had all my other nearby rugs steam cleaned, but really didn't know what I was looking for, other than moth holes. By the time you have holes, it's too late.I sprayed nearby rooms with D-Force HPX- Deltamethrin, which kills moths, but not larvae or eggs. I caught the problem several months later when I noticed chews in a favorite coat on one of my inspection rounds. Once I knew what to look for, i.e. the larvae poking their their heads out in the bright sun, I went nuclear on the moths. Nearly all clothes came back from the cleaners with no evidence of damage. I was lucky. The remaining clothes and textiles, which were treated with Nuvan were caught early enough that I have avoided a major throw out session. I have many old and lovely oriental rugs; I would have been heartsick if I had lost any of those. I sent the best of the rugs out for a cleaning and moth-proofing, expensive, but worth it. The rest appear to be unscathed and are lying around in a bedroom being vaporized by Nuvan Prostrips. It's better to be safe than sorry. My advice: if you have moths, for a small price, you can get enough Nuvan Prostrips, to wage a nuclear attack in your closets and anywhere you can shut off a room and treat items you suspect of being infested. Nuvan is great if you have seen larvae in a few coats or sweaters, but you are not sure how many of your things are infested, you don't want to shell out to dry clean the entire contents of your closet. I had a lot of stuff which just couldn't go in the dryer or washer for the 30 minutes at 120 degrees, which is necessary for the washer or dryer to kill larvae and eggs. Nuvan took care of all these items and I can now continue to clean them as usual. One Pest control guy told me he has seen more moth infestations in the last two years than in the previous 20 years. In the future, at least for the next year, I plan to use Nuvan Prostrips when I go away, just to be sure bugs don't move in while I am gone.

bye-bye flies!
Worked GREAT last summer on flies that accidentally got into my house. They didn't live long at all. Never saw them fly around the house after getting in so can only believe that this stuff WORKS! Also, moths are gone. Now, if I could ONLY FIND what works on stink bugs!!!

Recommend by a few professionals
Don’t make the mistake of paying a huge company that over charges for something you can do yourself.I had 3 professional bug companies recommend these and alpine spray for a bug situation we had. And absolutely did the job. If you have a really bad situation of course always call to consult!

I use these in my garage, attic crawl space ... BUT NOT ANYMORE!!!
I will not buy these anymore. They are too high priced. I will start buying the Hot Shot No-Pest Strips instead. Cheaper price at less than $6.00 each and the same active ingredient at the same concentration. Look at Hot Shot... and save some $$$$ !!I use these in my garage, attic crawl space and travel trailer. These ProStrips are an effective long term insect killer. These ProStrips are effective on spiders, ants, roaches, flying insects and will also kill Bedbugs!! Nuvan makes two sizes of this strip: a large one that covers a broad area and a smaller one for use in containers. They are not sticky and they are not messy to use. These ProStrips can last up to 4 months in my crawl space which can reach 122 degrees during the summer. The vapor action of these ProStrips is totally invisible and virtually odor free. They are NOT intended to be used in occupied rooms. I will put one into my walk in closet and keep the door closed, or an unoccupied guest bedroom with that door closed. I will only use them in the whole house if I am going to be gone for a week or more. You do have to calculate the cubic footage of the area you will use them in to determine how many you need to use in any given situation. You also have to keep them separate from each other by about 10 feet so that the vapors will cover a wider area when using more than one in a large room.

Recommended by a professional pest control company.
This stuff takes a while to work (we stayed with relatives for 3 weeks), but it works. We had a infestation that the professionals couldn't take care of in a year. They actually refunded our money and recommended this product. It is intended for industrial warehouses and not for residential use, therefore, they couldn't legally use it in our home. However, if you can leave your residence for a few weeks, it will definitely kill anything that moves. Look the stuff up online and make sure to get enough to cover the square footage of your home, don't try and be cheap. Warning; do not leave any kind of pets, they "WILL NOT SURVIVE".

This is the only way to get the BB’s out of your car.
This is the only way to get the BB’s out of your car. I have become an expert at this. After having difficulty getting them extinct from my apt.Place several Nuvan strips – like 3 large ones – in the car. Also buy an additional package and place 2 large strips in your Trunk or several small strips. Place additional strips in the cabin of your car. Lock the seatbelts (as if you were driving) when treating.Throw away all carpet mats in your car and replace with rubber mats. Buy Cimexa Insecticide dust on Amazon. Put the dust all over the floor of your car and down the seatbelt holes. They will die if they walk on it. Wear a mask and gloves. If you want to be really sure, spray the seats with Bedlam Plus, available on Amazon! Finally, how long? 10-days, because the eggs will hatch in 10-days. The strips do not kill the eggs. The strips will kill them INSIDE THE SEATS. The strips will kill the nymphs (newborns). Sorry, 10-days.Do not open the car. Air the car out after 10-days.
