A powerful suction cup secures the sharpener to any smooth countertop. Then just pull the knife through the sharpening slot several times to restore your knife's edge. To use, simply place the sharpener on a flat surface, push the handle down to lock the suction cup in place. Place the knife inside the sharpener at the heel of the blade and with gentle, firm pressure, pull blade through to sharpen. Blades are sharpened to a factory-like angle edge. Works with all non-serrated Kai knives. Rinse with water to clean up, then dry thoroughly.

Fabulous knife for the price.
I love these knives. I bought this one to replace the one I bought 5 years ago. It's a $10 knife and won't last a lifetime, but it's wonderfully sharp and easy to resharpen. The handle shape is very kind to arthritic hands. I have the chef's knife and santoku knife; use them for every meal I prepare and can't say enough nice things about them. I'm really happy to finally have a sharpener, too. I've been using a whetstone and have problems getting the right angle.

This knife is so reasonably priced and very sharp. It comes with a sharpener which I used on an older knife and it did a very good job.

My first real knife
The first night I had this knife was amazing. Never in my life have I chopped veggies so cleanly and fast.

Excellent, super affordable knife!
I love the line of Komachi knives. I first got a set of them from Costco several years ago and they're still going strong. This one is for my friend. They're razor sharp and lightweight so be careful. This knife is good for cutting through squash. I always handwash and dry - knives shouldn't go in the dishwasher. I've been using the Shun (same parent company) steel to hone, and it's great that a sharpener has been introduced.

I like Kai knives a lot
This one how ever I haven't even used yet. It is huge. I have about 5 other Kai knives so was really looking for another sharpener and when I saw this knife with the sharpener I gave it a go.The sharpener isn't that great. I would say it is okay for the small knives but not better than the other ones I already have.

Stays super sharp
Didn't think much of the sharpener, but it works fantastic with the komachi. Carbon steel knives stay very sharp for a long time, but all knives dull. The sharpener is a great combo. Also, there is no guesswork if the sharpener is matched at the same angle/bevel the knife should be kept at.

No Need To Sharpen Yet...
I love the knife and used it many times but haven't even opened the sharpener yet. I highly suggest getting this combo for anybody who occasionally wants to make clean sushi-like cuts in meat, vegetables, fruits etc. - I hope if it ever loses dullness the sharpener can restore it! But so far no need!
