Great DVD-RAM Discs
These discs were pretty much the only new DVD-RAM discs that I could find anywhere. The quality of the discs was excellent and they work great! (I was very impressed with the build quality of the discs.)

You can't get these beauties anymore.
DVD ram is now obsolete, it's small and doesn't move data that fast. It sucks in every way compared to Blu ray and was a commercial failure. Shame really, it's a good technology for data archives. Something about the coating on the shiny side and the metal alloy used for the data layer make them really durable, the sector division marks on the shiny sides are not for show, those make this act more like hard drive than a DVD because you can arbitrarily read and write wherever you like without rewriting the whole disc like you would for DVD rw and Blu ray rw. Kinda wish they made a Blu ray RAM format.Technology connections on YouTube explains the story and advantages of these discs. He does it better than I can so see his review to see if these antiques are the limited stock, irreplaceable, unique media you need.

Panasonic `DVD Ram discs only.`
Bought these because my Panasonic dvd recorder/player will not format any other make or type of disc, even Verbatum RW. Talked to Panasonic Customer Services who were `chocolate fireguards` and told me the only discs to use are `DVD Ram` discs. Seeing as they no longer make these discs themselves and they appear to be only available on the nnet I would have thought a large company like this would have found a way to facilitate alternative types and makes. However being a lowly `consumer` and having to shell-out two or three hundred pounds for one of their dvd players my opinion is at the bottom of their list of priorities.Needless to say will not be buying Panasonic again ! As for the discs they work fine..

An Excellent Substitute
When Panasonic stopped making their DVD-RAM disks I wondered what I was going to do, but soon found this useful item and am so far pretty pleased with it. You format it in exactly the same way (it just takes a few seconds longer) and then you can record on it in just the same way as with the Panasonic ones. I preferred the slimline jewel cases the originals came in, these are the wider standard variety but this is a small gripe as is the fact that you cannot buy them in more than five in a pack sizes. If you have a Panasonic DVD recorder and are in need of new disks, look no further. I will probably alter this when I have had them for a while so watch this space!
