It has a very loud whistle while the striker and ferro rod work well also.I volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and I give all the new gear to leaders and Scouts to test out. These are rugged enough to survive a teenage boy and utilitarian enough to be carried, used and enjoyed by Scout Leaders alike.A lifetime of trial and error with multiple items and this one I can say is worth while. This is a great little keychain. Functionally, this works as intended. I use it for work where I wanted something easy to pull from a pocket without having to dig since I am frequently opening doors.So far the material quality holds up with the frequent use. Although I have yet to have a need for the fire strike, I tested it and it throws a pretty good spark.My only con with this keychain is the location of the firestrike post between the clip prongs. The teeth on the rake are sharp and wide not leaving much room when using and have dug into the prongs leaving visible marks (see pics) and with frequent use possible fraying of the plastic. The whistle is quite loud and would be perfect for getting attention or helping location in the event of an emergency situation.Well worth what I paid, perfect gift for someone who hikes or camps and wants to keep keys organized in a compact manner.

The keychain is incredible, very good product, I have it with me all day. The files sent to me, most of them could download, except those who came with an .EXE, I use MAC and these extensions are not installed on my computer. I broke on me after I used it.

I've had this keychain for about two months now. It's been holding up well. I carry about 10 keys personally, and I find myself usually adding and removing additional keyrings (work related) quite often. The black paint on the clip has minuscule wear and tear but that's expected. I give this product 5 stars and will update again in the future when I've clocked some more mileage. The only thing I can say is that the black keyring it comes with doesn't seem strong to begin with. I would recommend swapping it out for a stronger one if having a reliable keychain is #1 priority for you as it is for me.

This is a strong simple keychain. I tried to pull everything apart on it with my hands and hit it against some hard objects. It didn't break or come apart. The flint and scrapper work well and so does the whistle. This is super simple and won't take up space in a pack and won't break if clipped to the outside of it.
