Beautifully gourmet and healthy recipes - this is one of my favorite cookbooks!
This cookbook is an absolute gem. I keep coming back to Amazon to find out if they've published a second edition or a sequel yet! I have enjoyed the recipes so much. I love the simplicity of the recipes combined with the exotic presentation and flavor of the resulting dishes. I have served many of the dishes learned through this book at dinner partners, and people love them. The Lentils with Wild Rice and crispy onions had a beautiful presentation - my husband loved it. I also really enjoy the Chickpeas with Bulgar Wheat salad, and the Arugula Shittake Quinoa Risotto. This cook book has made learning to cook with healthier ingredients a pleasure, and I have been suprised at the beautiful presentation and delicious flavor of the dishes. This is healthy cooking without an ounce of sacrifice.I noted that some of the other reviewers commented on the difficulty of finding the ingredients, which is understandable. I got this book when I was trying to learn how to cook with more whole grains, and it's true that we are less familiar with whole grains in general. It's a challenge to learn how to cook with whole grains at first, but it's worth it. The Mayo Clinic cook book clearly explains how to cook with the grains in their recipes. Also, I've found that it is quite easy to find the ingredients if you can find a grocery store that sells bulk foods. Whole grains and beans are very inexpensive when purchased dry. Once you get the hang of whole grain cooking, your ability to cook a fabulous healthy meal is ramped up tremendously. Enjoy this cook book!

Lovely volume!
This is a very handy cookbook for anyone--meat-eaters or vegetarians--anyone who wants to eat healthy. I have been eating the Mayo Clinic Diet way for half a year now, and I am excited to have found this cookbook, but you don't have to be specifically on that, or any, diet to find these recipes useful. The pages are nicely organized, the directions are clear, photos are good (almost every recipe illustrated), organization and index easy to use. The recipes themselves are varied and original, but not so exotic you can't find the ingredients. (Don't you hate that?) I strongly recommend this book. The New Mayo Clinic Cookbook

I do not like the fact that many recipes take a long time ...
I bought this cookbook as I have high blood pressure and I wanted lower sodium recipes. This has exactly that and a lot of recipes, everything from appetizers to soup to sides and main dishes and even desserts. I do not like the fact that many recipes take a long time to prepare and a lot of ingredients. I also had a problem with the binding not allowing book to stay open without a heavy weight but my Husband stretched it out for me. I have found a few recipes that I really like and am going to continue to test more and keep notes on each for future use.

Recipe instructions can be confusing
We have enjoyed the recipes we have prepared from this book. The recipes are interesting and tasty. You certainly don't feel like you're giving up anything to eat healthy. There are two things you should be aware of if you're going to use this cookbook:1. Recipes from this book take longer to prepare than you may be accustomed to.2. You must pay close attention to the recipe as you're preparing the food. The book suffers, I think, from poor organization within the recipes regarding how the ingredients are used. It's odd to me that both the authors and editors let this kind of error slip past the first draft. For example, the black bean burgers on page 194 consist of a burger and a ketchup, both of which use some salt. The problem is that there are not two separate ingredient lists, so it's too easy to make the mistake of putting all the salt in the kethup. This issue of a lack of correspondence between the ingredients lists and the instructions makes the actual process more complicated than necessary.

Wonderfully delicious low calorie recipes
Wonderfully delicious low calorie recipes. Beautiful pictures throughout. I fault the book for nothing.I I was disappointed to find it didn't include sample meal plans with the overall calorie reported per meal. I assumed that because it was written by the 'Mayo Clinic' that it would do all the work for me to maintain a healthy eating lifestyle. I have the mayo Clinic Diet that promises rapid weight loss under close physicians care. I assumed this was similar to that with carefully planned meals with a few more calories to maintain the weight loss that would help maintain the eating habits you develop while using the 'Mayo Clinic Diet'. But aside from my misaligned disappointment I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to eat healthier foods.

Every nutritionist should buy this book
My husband and I love to cook and we also love good food. I found this book while browsing in a bookstore and brought it home. We cooked several dishes and really enjoyed them. But it was not until we went on a strict low fat diet that we fully appreciated this cook book. We tried a wider range of the recipes and with few exceptions they were delicious and satisfying. Best of all, there is complete nutritional analysis for each recipe, so counting grams of saturated fat and calories was made simple. We literally learned how to cook and eat healthy from this book. I've since purchased it for family and friends who also enjoy cooking good food, and feel like I'm doing a good turn for them. Anyone trying to teach patients about healthy cooking and eating should use this book; cook from it, then share with your patients. I would love a second volume!

love it!
I have tried more recipees from this cook-book than any other. Perhaps the pictures are so enticing I can't help myself. A few dishes I've tried were just okay, but most were fantastic! My only complaint is that most of the recipees are quite time-consuming. You can however find shortcuts once you've had a little practice with them. (For example I love the turkey pot pie and have found that it is just as good if I substitute frozen edamame, artichokes and pearl onions for fresh ones and used pre-prepared matchstick carrots instead of doing all that chopping myself.) Best of all you know that despite the delicousness - you are eating healthy food!!

Bland!
I found the book rather disappointing and not as informative or inspiring as for e.g The Doctor’s Kitchen.

Book is outdated
I am very disapointed in this book..only because it is outdated and I didn't realize it...so many things have changed since it was written. Also, it cost me a lot even though it was a second hand book, by the time the shipping came in..it is a heavy book, and the difference in currency exchange, it was not worth it...I am not even sure if I can return it and then it will cost me more. It does have some nice color photos..but not really a lot of new thing..very disppointed.
