Vital Essentials Freeze Dried Cat Food, Beef & Chicken Dinner Patties 8 oz

Have been using this brand for awhile. The patties are one of my cat's favorites. Cats like pretty much all their "flavors." I have a hydrocephalus cat that was prone to bladder stones and once I switched him to carnivore, he stopped having urinary issues. Cats are obligate carnivores and grains and fillers will mess with the Ph levels. Spendy because of quality ingredients, but worth not having to take them to the vet and having to buy special foods, medicines, and paying $400+ for stones removals.

This food can be fed dry or wet. To me it stinks a little bit more when it's wet. My cat's like it either way - a whole lot. My little princess goes absolutely Gaga for it. (She doesn't respond to catnip, but she responds to this!) It comes mostly in Little square patties. One is enough to make my little princess very happy. There's some dried bits that were down in the bag. Most of the patties arrived intact though. There's a feeding guide on the back that seems to be very accurate. All my cats like this. We've had no GI problems out of any when using this feed. We have 6 cats. The youngest at 8 months likes it the best. She's also the one that likes people food the most. She's a mix breed but has Maine Coon in her. My older cats don't like this as much but they will eat it if it's broken up for them. They are very picky and will turn their nose up at new foods if they don't like them.

Not impressed with this product. I gave this to my 5 cats twice and both times they ALL threw up. I will not be purchasing any of these products again.

As a cat owner, this kind of food is new to me. I have never seen cat food in the shape of a patty. I was not sure if they just chip away at it or do I break it up or what I am supposed to do with it. I broke it up into pieces and added a gravy packet over it to give it some variety of texture and something easier on the palette. The smell I found very strong and for my nose, not very pleasant either. I put it out for my cats and noticed they started eating it. My cats sometimes will dig into a new meal and when I give it to them a second time, they shun it, flip the bowl or look at me like I poisoned them. During the first helping, I noticed they struggled to eat such large pieces and would carry it with them trying to break off a piece. So I decided the second time I would have to break it down more. Giving them smaller pieces, they ate it up until there was none left. And this would happen every time I used it. I am particularly happy they enjoyed this as the ingredients seem to be very good quality. I don't feed this every meal, but maybe every other day or a few times a week, so the bag lasted a while, which I also liked. So, in the response to my cats, they love these and would certainly get more in the future.

It’s unfortunate that these didn’t work for my cats. They seemed to enjoy it. I split it into smaller pieces and added water to moisten it. My cats went crazy once they smelled it. Within half an hour they were both projectile vomiting throughout my whole house. Carpets, kitchen rugs, under the bed. It wasn’t pretty. And of course shortly after they were hungry and stalking me for something to eat. Hopefully the manufacturer figures out why this is happening to some cats that have tried this food. I will have to stick with the blue buffalo kibble they are used to.

Vital Cat® Freeze-Dried Beef & Chicken Dinner Patties Cat Food, 8 ozI have one cat out of five (inside/outside cats) who just loves freeze-dried food. I thought this brand might be a good one to try. I tried this flavor, and all the cats loved this. This has a softer texture than the nibs, and I think they cats like that. I use it more as a “treat” than using it as their everyday food. I like the ingredients, too. Highly recommend.
