About the Actor Martial artist and Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen was born in Canton, China, on July 27, 1963 to newspaper editor Klyster Yen and martial arts master Bow Sim Mark. At the age of four, Donnie started taking up martial arts from his mother who taught him tai chi and wushu until he was eleven when he moved to Boston, MA, with his family. From there, Donnie continued with tai chi and wushu but soon also began experimenting with various others martial art styles, such as taekwondo, kickboxing and boxing, after developing a huge interest in martial arts. When he was sixteen, his parents sent him to Beijing Wushu Academy so he could train Chinese MA under Master Wu Bin, well known as the coach of Jet Li. He underwent intensive training for three years. After those years passed by, he was about to leave back to the States, but made a side trip to Hong Kong, and there he was accidentally introduced to famous Hong Kong action director Woo-ping Yuen, who was responsible for bringing Jackie Chan to super stardom and was looking for someone new to star in his movies. Donnie was offered a screen test and thereafter a 4-picture deal after passing it; first starting with stunt doubling duty on the movie The Miracle Fighters before starring in his first film, Drunken Tai Chi, at the age of 19. He continued his early film career working independently with Woo-ping Yuen and at TVB, gaining more acting experience, and then started getting attention in the late 1980s and mid 1990s after he was offered a contract by the D&B Films Co. whom gave him major roles in the well known films Tiger Cage, In the Line of Duty 4 and Tiger Cage 2 which got his reputation spread out within the Hong Kong film circuit. But after a while, the company did not do well and in the end went bankrupt which left Donnie with no choice but to go back to TVB and venture into low-budget film-making. See more

Best of Kung Fu, Wu Shu and Car Fu.
Love Donnie Yen's movies, historical and contemporary. Only John Wick movies in the west seem to capture the spirit of the fight. But Donnie Yen is another level of awesome. The female lead, I guess it's Zhang Hanyu, was incredible fighting inside a Range Rover. The stunts/fighting in this is breathtaking, heart-stopping and exhilerating.Highly recommend.

Great action movie love Donnie Yen and Tian Jing
I'm really surprised about the negative reviews because this is a great action movie I love foreign films Korean and Chinese particularly and this movie was a blast to watch the acting storyline and action scenes were all great Donnie Yen and Tian Jing were absolutely Badasses and the ending was good too it's a shame all the negativity this movie has gotten because it's just a fun action movie it's just as good as the die hard movies in my opinionAlso the blu ray has excellent picture and audio quality so if you have an HD tv blu ray is the way to goThe blu ray has both original Cantonese and English dub i always listen to foreign films in their original language as English dubbing sucks but I know some people hate reading subtitles but trust me don't let that stop you from watching this and other foreign movies once your into the movie you won't even realize your reading subtitlesHighly recommended

Donnie Yen - If you like Ip Man, This is a Go!
Ip Man 1 and 2 were fantastic movies, with masterful martial arts action from Donnie Yen. Based on that track record alone, I sprung for this rental. Glad I did so. Despite the poor choice of film title - Special ID (really?) - and the English subtitles (these flashed quickly at times but overall didn't detract) this movie was worth the risk.Donnie plays an undercover cop (rough on the edges and out of his depth with the mainstream police force), and the role is a pleasant addition/expansion from his normally commanding mentor-like presence on the screen. There is a "younger" energy to his character with a bit of "street" style that is complimented by life wisdom. He shows vulnerabilities, internal conflict in his "good cop vs. bad gang member realities," and of course, you've got the sweet martial arts, with a lot more MMA/ground style!Donnie's performance is ably supported by Tian Jing - as a female police officer - and she has the battle skills as well as the attractive looks. I also thought that Andy On did a nice job working the part of "Sunny" - Donnie's former gang student that has risen to power. If I had to point out weaknesses in the film, I would say that the writing was not believable in places (but forgivable), there could have been more separate fight scenes, supporting characters could have been more developed, and the final confrontation seemed overly drawn out (but well done) without that huge Hollywood finish. However, I should also admit that I'm a bit hypercritical of plot holes on all movies that most viewers would simply ignore.Overall, even without the Hollywood ending, this one squeaks into a 4 out of 5 stars for me, and that's because of Donnie's moves. He must be getting younger.Parental Guidance: Language bombs, no nudity, plenty of gang violence and martial arts blood - but surprisingly, not a lot of gore or gratuitous violence. It's not for the youngsters, but older teens are probably fine despite the "R" rating. I've seen a lot worse.

Donnie Yen Delivers Again!
This guy doesn't get the credit he deserves! His movies always feature something new with him skillwise! Playing the lone undercover police officer something he's done a few times does not get stale. The story is common- Undercover Cop, no help from his boss, bad guys closing in- you've heard this before... But Yen an amazing martial artist in real life is a joy to watch. Grab the popcorn and your girl (if she likes kung fu movies!), get comfortable and enjoy!

Pretty good movie i enjoyed it.
To me this was a good movie the action was pretty good but a different kind of action for Donnie Yen meaning that if you've seen a lot of Donnie Yen movies you know what im talking about but if don't then in most if his movies the fight sences are great his skills are top notch he kicks everybodys but but in this movie it was toned down he still got the job done thought it was a good movie still i liked it and if you are a Donnie Yen fan then this movie is for you and also if you like good martial arts action movies this is also for you.

Donnie Yen was great in IP MAN AND IP MAN 1,2, 3 and 4 .. but, the writers of this movie did not do him any justice whatsoever..AND THEY HAVE TRULY INSULTED BRUCE LEE NAME BY USING HIS NAME. ON THE FRONT COVER OF THIS BLU-RAY CASE TO PREMOTE THIS BADLY WRITTEN AND MADE MOVIE...because it is a horrible, movie .and I would not recommend it at all .AND definitely not worth the asking price. only Die hard Donnie Yen fans would think this movie is good....but if like myself you are a BRUCE LEE FAN..,THEN YOU WILL TRULY BE DISAPPOINTED..WITH THIS MOVIE WICH IS WHY I RETURNED IT .FOR SOMETHING ELSE..AND THATS SAYING SOMETHING MY FRIENDS ..do not waste your money..

Good one to see
Donnie Yen kicks some serous butt and this one is of those kick butt martial art movies. I'm addicted to martial arts films can't get enough. From Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen the list goes on. Donnie Yen is now appearing in American films and I think the public will learn his name very quickly. Latest American film look for the blind man in Star Wars Rogue One.
