These pads are AWESOME! I've tried all kinds of options to keep area rugs in place, as my house has all hardwood floors, and my mother collected oriental area rugs. These are hands down the best I've found in more than 25 years. No joke.All my rugs are non-standard sizes, so I did try to to have them cut down to size by the vendor. Someone from the company (in the Q&As section) wrote that they could cut the pads to custom sizes if you put the size request in the gift note field. Unfortunately, I ordered 5 pads, and only one of them came in the custom size I'd asked for -- though all five pads had custom size requests in the gift note field.I wasn't really sure that putting the size request in the gift note field would work -- I expect those were just printed automatically and put in the box with receipts, etc. But it was really odd that one out of four that were in a single order came cut down.I still gave them a five, because I couldn't give the product a six (so I didn't take off for the customer service issue). One of my rugs is pretty small (2.5' x 3'), and in a high traffic area. I almost removed the rug, as even my dog walking by would cause it to move. BUT since I've put this pad under it, it looks great and hasn't moved an inch!!I didn't have any trouble cutting down the other 4. The trick is to use kitchen scissors (as mentioned by other reviewers) or other types that have a wider serrated (see pic). I tried extremely sharp sewing scissors first, but the kitchen scissors I got free at Safeway worked significantly better and faster. It didn't take more than 10 mins each (although I didn't have any 9x12s).I do wish I had ordered them all at the thickest (3/8"). I like the extra little pad. You can feel it when you walk on it, but its not so thick that it interferes with furniture. But even the thinner pads keep the rug in place AND keep dirt from getting so ground in.And the price is unbeatable for the quality!

We purchased the 8 X 10 1/4" thickness. It proved to be exactly what we wanted at a good price. I was very concerned about the reviews indicating the purchasers' pads had bad smells. Ours certainly did not, and my wife has a particularly sensitive nose. The pad definitely does not slip and it holds the rug in place on top of it. Warning: this means that after you replace furniture you're not going to be able to tug the rug a little this way or that even if you lift sofa legs. You just get ripples. (Voice of experience here.) So best first to remove all furniture and get the pad and rug exactly where they will remain. You may have already learned that actual sizes of 8 X 10 rugs vary a bit. We had to cut about 4" off one side of the pad and it was difficult to cut even with sharp scissors. A box cutter may have worked better, but I didn't want to mess with getting something under the pad that would avoid any chance of slicing through to the wood floor. The price and having the pad delivered to my front door outweighed the difficulty I had cutting it, and experiencing the durable construction of the pad was reassuring.

This pad performed well when exposed to a small amount of water. It's in our basement rec room, which got some water in it last week after a few days of hard rain while we were away on vacation. Fortunately, it was just a little water - enough to make the underside of the pad wet but not the rug on top.When we got home and saw that this happened, we rolled up the rug, lifted up the pad, put a couple milk crates underneath the pad to allow air flow to the top & bottom of the pad, and aimed a fan at the pad.The pad dried very quickly (in under 12 hours), though we let it air out with the fan blowing on it for an additional 24 hours just to be safe. There is no mold or moldy smell and never was. I'm extremely sensitive to mold so I wouldn't hesitate to throw out the pad if there was even a hint of mold smell. But there isn't and I feel very comfortable keeping the pad.Even before this water incident, we loved this pad from the day it arrived. It's well-made, we like the thickness of it, it and it leaves no residue or goo on either the floor or the underside of the rug. The rug itself is on the thin side; with this pad underneath, the rug feels a bit more cushy, which is nice.We've had other rug pads over the years and none were worth recommending. This one is. We are going to buy this pad in other sizes and replace the pads under all of our rugs with it.

I got a new 9x12 wool rug for our new LVT wood look floor. It kept sliding ALL over the place. I researched like CRAZY and this product *seemed* like the best option. It arrived quickly! It was wrapped in plastic and as we unwrapped it, it STUNK. BAD. But after a few minutes, the smell dissipated. We unrolled it on the flooring and it was a little lumpy but smoothed out within a few hours. The pad has a rubber grid bottom and a ROUGH felt top that feels horrible on your skin. It is fairly padded and feels nice under your feet - but it is not plush by any means. I had to trim down one of the 9 foot sides so our rug would cover the edges which I did with a utility knife - super easy to do.This pad does an AWESOME job staying put. The rug has not moved an inch since being on the pad - honestly, I'm really amazed. I have two more coming tomorrow and I'm so excited about them. I highly recommend them. If you are on the fence, DO IT.It's not a soft or pretty product, but it WILL keep your rug in place. We have three dogs who have played HARD on it, and it has NOT moved!

Natural rubber and felt pad keeps the rug in place and is so comfortable that it feels like a very expensive rug. I paid almost as much for this pad as the did for the rug but it was well worth it . My synthetic rug looks and feels like wool.

This under carpet pad, made of some sort of thick felt material is great. Rug does not move that much at all and does not leave any chemical residue on our hard wood floor. Great product

Fit perfect under my area rugs and it was easy to trim off the 3" along one side with a sharp pair of good scissors. Laid out flat right away and had no odours at all..........I would buy them again

Nice and thick, almost bouncy. Great grip! Would buy again/recommend.

I love this rug pad. It is makes my rug so soft and keeps it in place.
