A Strange Hymn (The Bargainer, 2)

This is a unique series. Nice writing and grammar. Great story line that's new, compared to most things I read. Intriguing characters and environments. I've started book three. Hope you give this series a try.

A Strange Hymn picks up right where Rhapsodic left off, following Callie and Desmond as they continue to try to solve the mystery of the sleeping female soldiers and their children. While it’s a solid book, it has all the markings of a typical middle installment, including a cliffhanger meant to keep you interested enough to pick up the third book.There is a lot I love about this series. I adore Callie and Temper’s friendship, and the strength they each possess. Des is the perfect dark romantic lead, and the fact that he is a winged male fae just adds to that (apparently I have a type). The villain isn’t obvious, which I also liked, as it came as a surprise when I neared the end. However, there is a part of me that wishes I knew more about the friendlier side character, like Malaki or any Aetherial. They pass in and out of Callie’s orbit quickly and add so little to the story. I feel like there’s a missed opportunity there.I also found I’m not a fan of modern slang in first person narration. While I get that as the reader we are inside Callie’s head, at times it took me out of the story a bit. IIt felt more like sitting with a friend at a bar listening to her talk then it did reading a novel. This is purely personal preference, but this style of writing is not my favorite.Overall though, I enjoyed the book. It’s spicy, there is growth in the main characters, and the plot moves along at a good pace. I will definitely be reading the remainder of the series.

Love, love, love Laura Thalassa and this series doesn’t disappoint. I appreciate her writing and how she can keep you captivated no matter what you read of hers. I just want to keep reading and reading!

This series is great, I love called and Des is my most favorite , I'm so in love with him. I love their love for each other great series

The story is good but predictable. It’s entertaining but not complex. This author has potential but needs polishing and more time and experience. She needs to learn how not to rely upon dated slang. Her characters don’t need dated slang in order to be down-to-earth and feisty.

The storyline of this series is really good and I will be reading next book. The only thing I don't love is all of Des' secrets, they are annoying.

I was immediately sucked into the story and it didn’t let up. It had action and romance and intrigue. It led me down a winding path that I could not foresee where it would take me and the end was better than I expected. Everything is coming together! And gah I Love Callie and especially Des

This series was amazing. So much so I'm going to reread it! Love this author! I was hooked right away and could not wait to continue!

Beautifully written. Fantasy and love. The 2nd in the Bargainer series is wonderful! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. I thought the 4 Horseman was magnificent...this definitely is equal to it

Didn't disappoint on reread, hard not to love this series to be honest, if you haven't read them highly recommend
