Does the job
The timer was delivered on schedule and was undamaged. The device is as described and works well. The timing is sufficiently accurate and the water shuts off when it's supposed to. The one caution that I have is that as with any spring wound device, sufficient energy must be delivered to the spring to make the device work properly. Every egg timer that I have ever seen says right on the face "turn past XX then set time" those instructions apply here as well. If you want to set the time for 15 minutes, you need to turn the dial past 1 hour then back to 15 minutes. If you just turn it to 15 minutes, it won't shut off. I thought every one knew this, but after reading some of the other reviews, I guess that I was wrong.I ordered three different manual irrigation timers because I wanted to find out which one was best. Besides the Dramm 15044, I also bought the Nelson 56600 and one called Automatic Hose Timer- Watering Lawn & Garden Outdoor Water Saver, Conserve, 5-120 min Auto Shut-Off. Of the three, the Nelson 56600 is the best and the Dramm 15044 is the worst. They all work, but the Dramm has the time increments written on a piece of paper (the sticker that you see in the middle of the dial), which peels off almost immediately.

A dependable garden tool
I actually have 2 of these timers...one from last year and one from this year. They are both very useful and accurate. I use them daily. The new timer has white numbers on dark green, which is a big help in setting it; it's very easy to see, even in the shade or dusk. They really are wonderful.

Basic timer, but works very well.
I just wanted a very basic timer to add to my yard hose and this is perfect. No frills, just a manual turn timer, but it is simple and easy to set, and turn off right on time. If you don't need all the electronics, this is a great timer.

Dramm water timer is great
I bought four of these about two months ago. They have operated reliably through our severe Texas drought. No fading or deterioration due to sun. I bought these because my wife couldn't (wouldn't?) use battery-operated digital timers which need some button pushing to set. With the Dramms, just a quick twist sets it to two hours (less if you like). I leave them connected to full pressure 24-7; no leaks. Although the decorative paper dial eventually peels off as other reviewers have complained, there's permanent time markers underneath - no problem. I suspect the plastic body will crack if a certain someone pulls on the hose (and this could damage our hose bib too) so I use a 3' hose on the outlet, tie it to a stake with a zip-tie to take the pulling stress, and then attach the full length hose downstream of that - no problem. My only reservation is: Sometimes the dial is a little hard to turn; it's stuck at first. Not a problem to force it, but wonder if this will lead to problems in the future. No problem so far though.--April 2012 update: All water timers are working well, even though I left them out all winter (we had only a couple short freezes). Althogh the timers still stick a little, no real problems have arisen. I remove my previous reservation and rate them 5 stars.--July 2014: still work fine

Functional, but flimsy.
I have always thought Dramm products were the best. I like the simplicity of this particular item, and purchased 3 of them. However, one has already broken where it screws onto the hose spigot, and I can see it happening with the other two. In addition, returning the item for a full refund including shipping isn't an option on these timers, which makes me suspicious that they have had difficulty with this before and don't want to stand behind their product. All that said, I wish they were better made, because I like the ease of function. The color choices are also fun. I have a Dramm Oscillating Sprinkler that only worked one year....and stopped oscillating. If you are trying to be the best, you need to act like it and strive to improve, or at the very least, stand behind your products. If I could return the products for a full refund including shipping if they break, I would continue to buy Dramm. But, if Dramm isn't going to honor the implicit expectation that they are a high-end product, then it isn't worth buying from them.

3 for 3 [seemed to have?] failed or became unreliable after less than a dozen uses.
I bought two of these, I was so satisfied at first. They're cheap and when they work, they work. They don't leak and they're accurate for times greater than 15 minutes (to set a shorter time is guesswork, because there are no marks and the knob has play). But I returned one after it stopped counting down and shutting off the water, and now the replacement and the one I kept both have become completely unreliable. I've gotten them unstuck and working again, but I'm not sure how I did it and have failed other times I've tried. And I can't tell if I've unstuck it without turning on the water for at least fifteen minutes and coming back to see if it's shut off. I know that our water pressure is particularly high, so maybe that's what they can't handle. Obviously, not everybody is experiencing such a high failure rate (3 for 3 in my case).Edit 1: I'm not sure yet, but I may have discovered a procedure to get it to work reliably, which is just to turn the knob all the way to the 2 hour maximum time and then turn it back to whatever setting you want. It may matter whether the water is running and/or the faucet is on when you do this...and again whether you have high water pressure, which is I think what creates this issue. I'll edit this review again once I'm sure. Meanwhile, optimistically, I've raised it to three stars from two.Edit 2: Nope, that's not it, or it's working for one out of the two remaining, but not for both. Back to two stars.

Junk
Stopped working after 9 days, and only used 6 times. Stopped letting water through on timer or manual. This is a simple thing to use, so definitely not user error. I'm a big fan of Dramm's brass products, but i won't be buying anything plastic from them again. Going to see how far I can throw this over my fence.

Sturdy
Well made, easy to use. Not programable, but I didn't want that. Serves the need well.

It is a good timer, but the only problem I have is ...
It is a good timer, but the only problem I have is that if I just have the water turned on low flow the timer seems to get stuck at 15 minutes. So I had to put a regulator after the timer so I can have the turned on full in order for it to work.

Efficient and easy to use
Simple, easy to use water timer that does not require batteries or complicated settings. Turn the dial to the amount of time for watering and it switches the water off when it's done.
