Classic, heavy duty cast iron cookware - with free hardback guide/cookery book
These are classic-finish cast iron Le Creuset pans. I selected the red version rather than the Le Creuset brand’s signature bright orange ‘Volcanic’ finish. I know the orange is probably the most popular colour way these pans come in, and my Mum has a vintage set of classic volcanic casseroles (picked up from French hypermarkets during holidays in the 1990s). But this was my choice of review item – and I like red. I do not regret my selection.I wasn’t expecting these to be packaged the way they were. I thought these would be a bundle of two pans in manufacturer retail packaging, but instead they came in a heavy duty plain cardboard shipper carton, with the grill and shallow casserole dish separately boxed in retail packaging, and the set accompanied by a separately shrink-wrapped, sizeable hardback cookery book on ‘The Cast Iron Way to Cook’.The book is really useful. It’s clearly a Le Creuset advertising piece, with sections on much of their range of cookware, including oven dishes, fondue sets, gratin dishes, tatin dishes, crepe pans, grills, and terrines alongside casseroles. However, it also gives clear and easy-to-follow advice on how best to treat the pans (including not to dry cook in them) in order to get the best performance out of them and avoid damaging the cookware, as well as some recipe ideas for each dish/pan type. A leaflet about cast iron cookery is included in the boxes with both the casserole and grill. The shallow casserole is a versatile pan that’s perfect for making hob top to oven dishes, smaller casseroles, pot pies, side dishes, and in use as a twin-handled frying pan.The lid is almost as deep as the pan itself, and has a large brushed metal handle with the Le Creuset name etched into it.The Cerise red colour is shaded and runs from a vivid, tomato-y shade through to a deep cherry. The colours seem to darken in use and as the pan gets hotter. This is a beautifully-finished pan. I have a couple of Staub cocottes and the enamelled outers don’t seem to be quite as evenly applied on these.Whilst the casserole dish has the classic cream-coloured Le Creuset non-stick surfacing, the grill has a black surface and diagonal griddle lines. This too is designed to be heated low and slow, and to give efficient, even cooking. Both items are heavy, well-made, and suitable for use on all hob types as well as oven safe. This is a lovely set and would make an impressive and imposing present, but as the items are separately retail packaged could also be split between intended recipients. This bundle seems to be a bit of a bargain compared to the price of the items bought individually (at time of writing this is on sale at £249.99, which is pretty much the price of the 26cm shallow casserole dish on its own).

Cook with confidence .... and pride ....
These cooking vessels are excellent, but for the price you’d expect nothing less. You get a shallow casserole, which is a good size, 270mm in diameter at its widest point. The base is about 50mm deep, with the lid adding another 40mm in height. The entire thing, including the lid, stands at about 120mm. including the top handle. It’s 350mm from the handle to the other handle, which fits easy in most ovens out there. It weighs quite a bit, the base being about 2.44kg and the lid being about 2.1kg, which is pretty heavy before you even think about putting the food inside. Then you get the Grill cerise which is pretty heavy too, about 2.7kg and is about 220mm wide, 320mm long and about 25mm deep on the outside, about 15mm on the inside, with raised ribs along the inside. Both are well made, cast iron, which you can tell from the weight alone, and the can handle what ever you throw at them. The casserole dish hold quite a bit, enough to feed my family of four with room to spare. The lid sits on firmly with its weight stopping it from popping off too much when the pressure build inside. The grill cooks and browns food with ease, with a spray of oil stopping anything from sticking to the non-stick covering the metal. The handles on both pots do get hot, as you’d expect, so do be careful when taking them from a hot oven and for a long time afterwards too.In all, a fine pair of cooking pots which are made well and do exactly what they are supposed to do. They do weigh quite a bit, even without putting the food inside them, so do be aware of that. Are they worth the £334 (£249.99 in a deal at time of writing) ..? The deal price I’d say yes as they are built to last and you should get your monies worth. But the full price may well put some people off. And, I nearly forgot to mention, you get a good little cookbook in the package which gives a lot of ideas of what to cook in the pots. Which is a nice addition.

Top quality and good value
This is a set of two classic pieces of cast-iron Le Creuset cookware, comprising a 26cm shallow casserole dish and a 32cm grill tray. Also included is an attractive hardback cookbook (which doubles as a Le Creuset product gallery). Both items are beautifully finished and built to withstand years of punishment. They're rated for temperature of up to 260°C, so should take anything your oven can throw at them. They feel as though they could survive a war.The two pieces come in separate retail boxes, so even though they come as a set, they could be split for gifting purposes, which is a nice bonus. Both items are versatile, and suitable for a variety of purposes, and both perform very well. They're easy to clean, and they look fantastic. The current price of £260 for the set represents very good value, and you could easily pay that for just one of them.Overall, a great cookware set that will last a lifetime, for a great price. Highly recommended.

Well made and looks very nice
My wife was so happy to see this kit on her top in the kitchen. Both the pan and the grill look very nice and definitely they are made to last and very good quality. They are quiet heavy so be prepared for them in special when you put food in them as well. The pan can go in the oven without problems and when the food its ready once out off the oven its going to keep the food warm for a good period of time. The grill its great when I'm lazy and i don't want to put the barbecue on so i just use this grill and its fantastic because its cast iron and the heat distribution its very good.I wash then with warm water and the soft side of the cleaning sponge.

pentole in ghisa Le Creuset
Amazon consegna perfetta.
