Q: Can this trap be used to catch/kill chipmunks; they are just about devastating my tomato crop

We love our few chipmunks and I just cried when this trap caught one. We try to set them in better locations to not trap our chipmunks but if that's what you were trying to catch you can rest assured this trap works all the same. We have a Godzilla rat that thinks it's a pet and as much as I hate to hurt anything living, he has to go. Feeding certain animals sometimes leads to unwanted critters too

Q: What are the dimensions of a single trap?

Around 3.5 inches wide by 5 inches long, but this is less important than the strength of the springand the sensitivity of the trip lever which are both perfect.My estate is in a rural area so we never get city rats but there are natural forest rats that try to make a home out of any shelter they can find.I got two of those with the trap. Take care that there are no small pets with access to the trap. I used dry dog bacon treats for the bait.I set the trap on sheet metal so I could hear it trip. One was at 9:20 PM and the other at 8:37 PM, both clean kills.

Both traps are the same product; the main difference is the seller.

Q: Why mice dont trip the trap

Rat Traps! Mice are small and do not readily trip the trigger. They can, but these traps are designed to be heavy enough, spring and slammer to kill bigger rodents. These can kill squirrel, rats, smallish opossums and some birds. Don't let kids any where near these traps as they can break fingers and toes. These traps are for rats, not mice.
