Lonely Planet Belgium & Luxembourg (Travel Guide)

Updated? Really?
Coming across oversights in this guide which should have been easily spotted by even the most inexperienced editor has me questioning what other information in this book is outdated. I understand there are some uncertainties created by Covid which makes publication difficult for everything to be 100% up to date. Initially I felt much better seeing on the first pages of the book about the level of careful double checking the writers put into maintaining accuracy. Not sure I completely believe that given they couldn’t even change outdated sentences for their 2022 edition for one of the major cities in Belgium.

Really outdated
The hotel recommendation is nice and not pricey. But A LOT of restaurants and hotels recommended by this book is permanently closed! The information is really outdated.

Lonely Planet Is Not To Be Trusted
I ordered two travel guides from Lonely Planet, including the Belgium guide, and when they came, I realized I already had a recent version of the Belgium guide. At Lonely Planet's direction, I returned the book I didn't need, without even opening it (and paid for the shipping). When I heard nothing back for about ten days, I checked into it and was told that since Lonely Planet had just switched its online shop to a new provider, I couldn't get a refund. So, they have the book, and can even re-sell it, but they have refused to give me a refund. I have requested a refund several times and they steadfastly refuse. Lonely Planet has purported to offer me a credit, but as I have told Lonely Planet multiple times, I have no need for a credit because I won't be traveling again before their credit expires. Don't be fooled by their offer of a credit that isn't an offer. They took the book and won't refund the money. It's that simple. Do not do business with Lonely Planet, or you risk getting ripped off.

Comprehensive
Full color maps and photos as compared to the same guide by Rick Steves. Good information on lodging, from budget to 5 star. I bought both guides this one snd the Rick Steves because friends who travel rave about his guides, but I personally prefer this one.

Gran apoyo para conocer y disfrutar la visita aun pais
Los consejos son muy buenos pero siento que le falta precision en detalles como encontrar un baño público

Difficult to read. Less useful content.
The language used is difficult for non native English speakers. So many pages are about restaurants and hotels. This book is only useful for people who are unable to use a smart phone or Internet.
