A book for all seekers of Truth
Living Open Space (The Interspiritual Journey of Lex Hixon)The latest book of Gregory Blann(Shaykh Muhammad Jamal) is truly a gold mine.I found out about this book from a mass email that was sent out by a friend.I ordered a copy immediately.I was fortunate to meet to meet Lex Hixon during Ramadan (the Islamic month of fasting) of 1994.During that time I received Bayat or initiation into the Helveti Jerrahi Order of Sufi’s from him. This book is a treasure for anyone who is following a spiritual path and for seekers in general. For those who follows the Sufi Path, reading the book gives you a close up glimpse of a Shaykh (teacher) in the making.Gregory Blann paints a captivating picture of Lex Hixon’s journey with his beloved Sufi master, Muzaffer Effendi, from Istanbul. And with the other teachers that Lex studied with and recieved initiation from.Lex actively held citizenship four spiritual lineages.Lex Hixon was an ocean of wisdom and compassion. He teaches us how important the sacred traditions are in regards to humanity's survival.Living Open Space goes deeply into how that was possible for Lex.Lex never says we should blend the lineages but points out how each tradition carries its own special flavor and the best way to really learn about and appreciate a sacred tradition is by stepping inside. Not just looking from without. How did he do this? What were his challenges, his insights?what does he have to teach us about this?To find out we must read the book. Gregory shows how Lex was a man of deep knowledge and wisdom. Keen intellect, compassionate heart. Passionate lover of the Divine in whatever form it appeared.Diving deep.He was a lover of all. A friend, teacher, companion on the path. He could also shake things up. He teaches us about the various feminine forms of Divine. We receive glimpse's of how we are all of one family in our journey toward the One.Lex says, " O beings of one body, from one source, family of consciousness, angel, animal, human, homeless wanders, coming home totimeless awareness, please realize,Timeless Awareness now."The life of Lex Hixon is an extraordinary example for us all.Thank you Gregory Blann for writing this book. You have done us all a great service.Five stars is not enough for this wonderful work.I would also recommend reading the other works by Gregory Blann.
