A fun, versatile hydroponics rig when it doesn't leak
This thing is amazing. I have zero hydroponics experience but I can follow step-by-step instructions.... the instructions kind of suck. All you will get is a mimeograph of the instructions on this very Amazon page. They have these little catch-trays that attach in an obvious spot but the crappy instructions don't account for them. Be ready for a little confusion. Also, the water/solution pipes to the top in a long, black tube and distributes throughout the rig by a square PVC setup they put together on a dime. It works well EXCEPT if there is any leaking. This thing leaks. It leaks like my 3-year-old son when he sees a tree. And I couldn't figure out why till I made like an Egyptian mummifier and stuck a nail in the PVC rig holes and dug out some little black foam specks. I don't know where those came from but until I figured that out, I was adding 1-2 gallons/day and wondering why the water was just running down the sides.So. Plug it in, dig around in those little holes. I worry what happens if it gets all algae-fied. It seems it would be hard to do a full bleach-clean or something. I also think they should have just wrapped a globe-shaped filter to the intake of the pump since there's no way to stop stray debris from getting in there. I'll be looking for a backup pump since I don't trust it.... but about 40 lettuce are growing from sprout and now about 5 strawberries too, all basking in the California sun for the past couple weeks.I love this thing.

Missing Filter
The assembly instructions are lacking and I was missing the water filter for the pump.

No instruction manual!!!
The minimal instructions for assembly are almost worthless!!!!! you need a real technical writer to write an assembly manual!!!S. Harden

It was a diaster using it indoors
The whole system was too large for my space.1. Too big to move around on a dolly2. Way too tall with all 8 levels. Was never able to use all levels, Used 30 pods at most.3. Once the pieces are in place, very difficult to take apart to clean.4. Very noisy for indoor use5. Flooded twice, what a mess!!!6. Replaced pump after a week, rattled on the bottom of the tank7. Tank is difficult to access. I don't understand why most of these system make it impossible to access the tank easliy.8. Watering system is a square pvc pipe configuration, slipped out of place frequent and some plants were not getting water. With grow lights attached on the lid, this process was a MAJOR chore!9. Add an air pump when it started smelling stale even with fresh water added frequent.Gave up on this system after 4 months and too meager harvest.Wasted over $649. Pump and air pump are being used in another system.
