An improvement over the previous Savage Sword.
While "Conan the Gambler" is an awful, awful title, this collection of three short stories is a vast step up over the previous volume of Savage Sword. For starters, they actually credited Howard as being the creator of Conan, something that they didn't do in the first issue and I found it disrespectful. The first story is a one off and isn't much to write home about. The second, also being the title of this collection is okay. The highlight is legendary writer Roy Thomas returns to pen Conan and finally, by Crom, we get something that FEELS like Conan. For one, Roy knows Conan loves to call everyone dogs, something the other writers must of missed in their research...The art on all three, while not being amazing is, once again, a step up over the previous issues messy art. While being still far from perfect for a Conan collection, this is on the right track.
