Cut, Paste, Kill: A Vigilante with a Deadly Hobby is Stalking Los Angeles (A Lomax and Biggs Mystery Book 4)

Lomax and Biggs At Their Best
Lomax and Biggs along with some great secondary characters are at it again in fine form. The author catches you up with Big Jim (a gentle giant of a guy who loves his family and just can't help interfering in their lives) and his wife Angel. Then we get a little more insight into Mike and Diana and also Terry's family. We can't forget Jett the black lab. Introduced in this segment is a precocious little 7 year old Asian girl who gets in the hearts of everyone especially Big Jim. Mr. Karp has the ability to make you like each of his characters even the ones Lomax and Briggs work daily with. So often in a Series or Mystery/Thrillers there are a number of people who are having issues and takes a good deal of the book focused on all their unhappy circumstances. Not so here. Even when an FBI Agent is brought in they still worked well together. This series is just refreshing! While there is a great mystery and I have to say it was nice to not have government take over's or terrorists or the failure of Wall Street (and several of the new books this spring and summer have been of that genre and I like them but was ready for a bit lighter type mystery).Probably the only negative issue I had with this book was that it wasn't longer. Normally I will skim through parts of books when you have a strong descriptive writer which is okay but I bore easily if things don't keep moving. I read one recently that the cops were interviewing a suspect and 4 chapters later they were still at it. Enough already. Mr. Karp keeps his storyline moving at a pace and it's hard to put the book mark in and go to bed or get back at what you need to be doing. I get to the end of the chapter and think oh I can't leave them here. The storyline here was very creative with the victims being despicable people who got away with crimes that couldn't be prosecuted. The scrapbooking idea was unique. That part alone would have taken the killer a great deal of time and they leave the scrapbook behind with each victim. Even though Lomax and Biggs are busy working the crime, there is the humor that lightens thing a bit and you find yourself chuckling in the strangest places. There are some great twists to the story and the ending I didn't guess at all. It's hard to say much here as to not give it away but I did suspect the involvement of one of the characters and turned out that I was right and wrong all at the same time. The ending surprised me for sure and I love it when it happens that way. Mr. Karp is great at tying things up and you can't wait to see what happens with all the characters in the next book.At the end of the book Mr. Karp mentions James Patterson and what an influence he's had on his writing and are in the process of coauthoring a book. That is one I will want to read.IF you haven't read Marshall Karp's book you will want to try this one and then you will want to go back and read his first 3. He's just that good!

Almost perfect, close enough
It has all the humor, the mystery and the great characters that I'm in love with, plus the perfect addition of Sophie Tan. The twist was so twisted that I'm not sure I have it all figured out after two reads. But I didn't want it to end.

Superior read
All 5 of the books in this series, while a bit dated, are well worth the read. The protagonists are fantastic.

ABSOLUTELY ENJOYABLE MYSTERY
Wow, what a great and enjoyable read. This is the 1st book I've read by Marshall Karp on his own. Loved all the characters, alot of twists and turns to keep the mystery interesting, fast paced, and just a fun read. His writing is unique and original, not stereotyped. It holds your interest with several different stories within the main story-has depth. Loved the details of each and really enjoyed the little girl added to the story. I'm so very happy to find a new author that I enjoyed reading and am looking forward to more of his books. A total pleasure.

Attention keeper!
My first novel by Mr. Karl, without James Patterson. I wanted to read his work alone. It was interesting and kept my attention to the end. The story was original. I did guess the end 2/3 of the what through. I love the cops to have humor, however, this went too far. I would have to switch partners. The humor was a little much. But would read him again.

Laugh out loud funny!
If you like a good mystery with great characters that is laugh out loud funny then, I highly recommend this book! The Lomax & Biggs series can stand alone but they are better if read in order. I know it's a cliche but I could not put this series down until I had read them all and that means reading until dawn! They are reminiscent of Carl Haissen but include a really good mystery also. The twists and turns will keep you guessing until the very end. Without giving too much away, this book also has an extremely heartwarming part that actually brought a tear to my eye! I like main characters that are close to perfect as opposed to ones that have a lot of flaws- I can enough of that in real life- Lomax & Biggs are like a funny Lucas Davenport (John Sandford' s detective). I hope that there will be many more books with these detectives because I love reading them!

Mr. Karp has another winner
As always a Karp book has loads of snark and humor intertwined with an interesting case. This time it’s a serial murderer/vigilante. But it’s not that simple. Read on and be entertained.

The ride is still thrilling except for the minor caveat of its ending
I really enjoy this seires in the rare combination of procedural and humor but this time the laughs were there, the crazy repartees were there, the building of the plot was fantastic, probably the most gripping of the series ...and Pffttt! the ending deserved so much more! It could have been the masterpiece of the series, except for the way it is resolved. I felt like saying "oh! come on....do we really have to blame ...."So beware that caveat, but the ride is still thrilling...!

Nice addition to the series
I did enjoy this book story. It was a new twist on a good crime story. Only negative comment is that the "scrap-booking" described in the film is very American, so it took a little while to understand the commenst around thescrap-booking parts within the book.
