A WISE DAY-BOOK!
I bought this book in paperback and found it extremely helpful in 2004 at a time when high triglycerides and a very high BMI required me to change my regimen, a change that resulted in my losing 40 pounds over about six months without dieting. In 2016, I am happy to report that although I gained some weight when my husband experienced a massive stroke, cancer, and then epilepsy, my BMI and blood chemistry do remain within the healthy range. I have kept this book and return to it as a kind of anchor for my self-care, especially in times of stress that threaten to sabotage my healthy living. Self-help books like this are so often faddish and therefore rarely are worth keeping and rereading; this one is not faddish, but sensible through and through, and therefore worth keeping and using in a sustained way. I am not going to repeat what so many other reviews have explained about the details of this book's content. With this book, I do also use MyNetDiary (a fabulous simple little FREE phone/pad app) to keep myself honest and on track. But this book is an indispensable wisdom-companion to that. I got MyNetDiary because I found keeping a written food & exercise diary tedious, but had found Moran's advice to do such journaling so very wise: The app does help make that health-habits journaling less repetitive and much easier for me. I have really taken all of Moran's advice seriously, and love the way her book is set up in little once-daily readings, each one of which prompts helpfully constructive self-examination and resourcefulness. At the same time, once you've read this book, its table of contents becomes a great reminder list, to check in with from time to time. I got an e-book version to make it handy for me to use on the go with MyNetDiary. I would give this book to every teenaged girl who feels peer pressure to diet. I would give it to every mature individual whose life challenges put their health at risk. It is almost time for a 20th anniversary edition. I hope it never goes out of print.

Different Approach to a Healthy Lifestyle
The author takes an approach to healthy living, including weight loss, that is more about attitude and behaviors than about a "diet." Because of this, it's not an on and off routine, like so may diets, nor does it involve counting points, calories, fat grams or carbs. What it does require is some self-evaluation and honesty, which is not as difficult as it sounds. The book is written in short inspirational "chapters," that can be read in a few minutes each. You can read one a day, several a day, or skip a day! This is a book to turn to for inspiration. It is probably also a book you will re-read from time to time. I seldom give any book 5 stars, hence the 4-star rating. Some of the sections were not quite as "meaty" as others, and I found some repetitive ideas that could have been eliminated by more judicious editing. All in all, this is a good book for people who are looking for a way to stop dieting and stop paying money to other people in order to live a healthier lifestyle. The concepts are easy but I have no doubt they will take some time to implement.

This is not a book, it's a lifestyle manual
I have the audio version of this book, which I love so much. Victoria is an amazing writer with a lot to share. She understands the problems an overeater face and she offers a lot of help with her advices.Victoria Moran encourages us to break free from the shell we created cause of our weight, and actually start living our lives to the fullest. Only then that we will be able to change. :)If you think you're suffering from food addiction, this book might not be enough, but it's a great aupplement.

My Best Friend
This book has become my best friend. It supports and guides me in my decisions, it cheers me in my smallest and most grand accomplishments, it encourages me to be kind to myself. It offers me practical advice that really works. I love this book as I would a dear friend, and I recommend it sincerely to anyone who is not 100% accepting of the way she feels, looks, or thinks she is perceived in the world.I recommend it also as an alternative to protein diets, low-carb diets, special supplements, and other diet gimmicks. This is about real life and real food and living in the real world. It is really a helpful book.

This book is a great!
I originally borrowed Fit From Within by Victoria Moran from the public library and found it so helpful that I had to buy it. And a week later I bought another copy of this book on Amazon as a gift.
