If you push back the little metal cover, there is an open hole that shows you where to punch. How to use: First put a tiny dot on the paper or object, exactly where you want the hole.... push back the metal cover on the device, shine a FLASHLIGHT into the device and the object needing the hole... then see your dot in the middle of the metal hole and then punch. Very simple and works very well. I was very impressed. I used it for a stiff plastic sheet. May not work on metal, I don't know. But, does a regular hole punch work on metal? Thank you for reading. I was looking for a hole punch that made a hole larger than the standard 3-ring binder punch. This tool is perfect. It makes a clean hole through standard 20# paper. I believe that it would work well with card stock and craft paper.

I previously purchased a 1/8" hole punch for a project for a customer and it broke in my hands after about 40 pieces were punched. I immediately returned it and opted for this, more expensive, more professional option. I love how smooth and easy to use this was. I have some arthritis in my hands, so it made double punching 500 cards so much easier. No sticking, no flying dots everywhere; it's all very nice and clean. The dots that are punched are housed in a small container area with a sliding door. Easy to keep your office area clean. The only major issue I have is that it's hard to see where you're punching - i.e., I have printed hole punches on my design, but it's hard to see them because this puncher is 100% enclosed. You aren't able to line them up easily, so I messed up a few, but once I got the location down, I was good. Something to keep in mind if you're doing a short run or don't have over runs on a project. Otherwise, HIGHLY recommended.

This punch is so handy. I can put punches further into my materials then I could with an ordinary punch. it’s easy on your hand and collects the paper, making a tidy workspace. Extremely satisfied and would highly recommend.

The hole puncher worked fine but since you cannot see exactly where the hole is going to be it did not work for our situation.

Goes through cardstock effortlessly.I needed holes punched in a very specific spot. It doesn't easily show exactly where you are punching, but I held it slightly sideways and under a lamp and I was able to get the punches exactly where I needed.Don't let the small compartment with the paper punches get too full. I made that mistake and it took a little while to force the little door open (use error, not product error).

Used to punch holes through tabs on lipo batteries (Worked great!)

The second picture clearly shows these having 5mm jaw thickness - but they're only 3mm and the material I'm punching is 4mm thick. FIX THE DESCRIPTION!

Worked quite well, until the bottom jaw gave way and now is useless.
