Q: Will this work for a residential heavy door with wooden frame? The door and frame are not flush.

I cant honestly answer that not knowing details of your situation. It is designed for walk-in cooler doors that are about 84" high and about 4' wide. It is designed to pull the door up to the box frame when the door is about a few inches from the frame. It is spring driven, not hydraulic which means it is lighter duty. If your door swings freely with NO resistance then it will probably work.
