Colourful, clear, interesting, informative and important
This book is a useful and timely addition to the (very small, but slowly increasing) stable of books about Black British History. It is well organised and would be an excellent springboard for classroom activities and discussions. Teachers based in Nottingham, Bristol and Cardiff will find it especially useful.

Good for the library at school
I love it when children find this well planted book at school in a book corner. It really resonates with so many children. IT has some fabulous talking points in it & can be the starting place for many pieces of KS1 & KS2 learning.

Brilliant
I got this for my older daughter and I to read together then when she's old enough and can understand properly, she can read it by herself. It's a wonderful book teaching about important sights in black British history that isn't readily taught enough in our schools.

Well illustrated
Very interesting look at black history in the UK. The map of England seems to stop just North of Leeds so assuming nothing of significance but it would be better to see the whole country. The illustrations are brilliant and engaging and there are plenty of activities.

KS2 History
Lovely book on the Black History of Britain best suited to children at key stage 2 (primary school juniors) with clear illustrations to match the subject matter of the text.We particularly liked that there were concise sections covering Black History in Wales and Scotland and that the narrative wasn't limited to English cities and port towns. As a parent and former teacher, I even learned a few things myself by reading this.

Good book
The book feels good and looks decent although the binding method confuses me. The book has alot of interesting information about black history all over Britain in easy to understand language making it perfect for children to understand. This is an excellent book for schools or children in general to learn more about British history in the UK

Interesting and informative
This is a well-written and nicely illustrated book that does a good job of telling stories of those who have come to live in the UK, and the impact that their culture has had in places and people around the country. It’s really interesting and throws light on some lesser-known stories from Britain’s past. Four stars.

Important to tell these stories
An excellent book highlighting the contributions to life in Britain by Black British people. I like that it shows the impact of Black lives around the whole of the UK, and not just big cities, and not just London.Short but informative texts, and well laid out with plenty of illustrations, this book is appealing and engaging. There's encouragement for children to look around and research their own locations too - and perhaps their parents will discover something too!My one criticism is that some of the pictures aren't very flattering - even people I knew I found hard to recognise.
